I’m fairly new to the world of wood working, and decided to step into the realm of routing. After discussing what type to get with everyone who would listen I settled on this little guy. Had all the options I wanted for the price I was willing to spend. It does what I want it to, without any fail. I’ve actually caught myself trying to find more reasons to use it. Very happy with my purchase

120-Volt Corded Variable-Speed Palm Router By Bosch This is a really nice router by Bosch, It comes with a 1/4” collet. There are no bits included. It has a 12 Amp motor that is a lot of power. You can also adjust the speed as needed. It has a precision centering system and 3 3/4” base operating that aids in maneuvering along your cutting line. This seems to be a well made router. I was anxious to try it out, but I have no router bits. I’ll have to wait until I can go purchase a couple of different size bits. This router is a palm router with a fixed base, but you can remove the acrylic base and it does have 4 holes so you could attach it to a table. With it being as small as it is, this is a comfortable size for my hand. I think most women would prefer it over a larger one. I’m anxious to purchase a router bit so I can give it a try. It also has an adjustable speed dial (800-25,000 RPM). I know this is a popular brand and know Bosch to have excellent products. I would recommend this Bosch Router because of their well-known and great products. I went online to read more about this particular router, but it seems this particular one has been discontinued. This unit is powerful enough for my application, but I find it a little difficult to set the depth. The collet is also easily breakable, I already had to replace it.

This router has plenty of power to perform the tasks I purchased it to do. Edge forming is primary function that I’ll be using it for. It was easy to get going with it. Could be a little easier to set the primary depth setting. The micro-adjustment is good. If the primary depth adjustment was easier, I would have given it a five.

My first router! So far a great tool … easy to handle and quite practical when it comes to change the bits … more than perfect for my hobby little projects!

Excellent tool! Form factor allows for easy handling. Home Depot had a great deal on this as well.

I’ve had two of these routers for some time now, and now need to use a template. I cannot figure out what is required to do this…anyone know what all I need to get beyond the standard base/subbase?

I’ve used Bosch tools for many years in the wood shop….they are well engineered and live up to professional production standards. Buy good tools; in the long run, they can make or break your work.

I have two routers that at one time alternated use, depending on the project. The much larger PC router is heavy and sometimes difficult to maneuver. I’ve discovered over time that the Bosch Colt Router can do it all. Its smaller design means that it is more agile when using in a less than horizontal surface. The barrel adjustment can be made quickly using the outside clamp or it has a micro adjustment that can be engaged for finer adjustments. The working surface and cutter are easily adjustable as well, so that you can change the plate, router collar, and/or router bit to fit your particular application. This machine also controls the initial torque twist that must be anticipated on most routers. The many attachments for the Pony give it incredible amount of versatility. In looking for a router, this is the one that I would recommend woodworkers start with. Once used it will probably eliminate the need for others. It contains the design and quality that Bosch is know for.

Great little router, the only thing I would mention is that it is loud.

As a “router newbie” I must confess that originally I was a bit taken aback that the unit did not include at least one router bit. But it does make sense much like a new drill may not come with a drill bit. So please be aware that you must purchase router bits separately. In all, it was relatively easy the uses. It is very portable, and though small, it has quite a bit of power. It was easy to adjust the depth, and it allows for fine tune adjustments. The RPMs/power could also be adjusted. The instructions were very detailed, which can be intimidating for a first time user, but they were written very clearly. According to the manual, the way this router came, you would not be able to use a template, but a separate add-on could be purchased so that it can be used with a template. I recommend this product to anyone who may not use routers a lot, but would need one occasionally for a woodworking project.

So far the Bosch PR20EVS is proving to be a beast. Routing internal and external curves in double stacked 3/4″ MDF is effortless. A very maneuverable and easy to use tool. I did manage to trash a template doing a practice run. I wasn’t expecting the amount of torque the router has. Made a new template and all was good. Will be using to route some oak in the near future. Based on that experience I may adjust the rating but for now definitely 5 stars.
