I bought this router 6 months ago for a few projects but am now using it for all sorts of uses I would have never thought to use it for. One of my best tool purchases!!!

I purchased this 2 days ago, put it to use today. Used it to cut grooves on kitchen draw face. Met the small challenge with no problem. Smooth cut. I was very glad I bought it.

I really like my new Bosch colt router. It is easy to use with one hand and has very little torque turn when you turn it on. Very easy to see contact point with wood as well.

I purchased this router last week and used it immediately to make slots in the side of a box I am making to hold Hot wheels.

I bought this tool to do some small chamfers along the edges of several cherry boards. Unfortunately, the locking mechanism on the sliding head designed to hold the bit height in position turned out to be more challenging than I originally accounted for. While cutting a chamfer I suddenly noticed that the size of the chamfer was increasing along the edge of the board. I checked the bit to make sure that it was not pulling out of the collet. It was not. Instead the sliding head was being pulled down during the cut and, thus, increased the size of the chamfer. I reset the sliding head to the position I wanted and then retighted it at the desired position. This time I used more force to tighten it into position. Again, it failed and started to slip. Eventually, after several attempts I was able to get the head to remain in position, but it took significant effort on my part and wasted a number of cuts along the way. I do not know if this is an engineering flaw or simply an issue with my particular tool. Either way, in the future I will be much more aware of the potential for it to slip and adjust it accordingly. I generally will not have much need for this tool, but when I do then I will need to be more careful. I recommend it based on the ease of use and handling, once the initial problem was addressed.

So far I really like this tool. I have done all of the grooves and now need to do rabbets. This is my first time using a router and I have watched a lot of videos and I am looking at a bearing set with a rabbet bit because this seems the most flexible for future use. The Warning in the manual that I don’t understand and think I should before buying more bits is on page 11. “Cutter diameter must be at least 1/4″ smaller than opening for the bit and cutter” Please explain, maybe with a picture 🙂

The unit works well in tight spaces . This is the reason I purchased this unit. I am very happy with this tool for sure.

I selected the Bosch Colt for two reasons; 1) the Bosch name – they make some great tools and 2) I needed a palm sized router for edge treatment of boards.Full sized routers are too hard to handle for edge treatment (round-over, ogee or roman) of smaller 1 X boards. The Bosch Colt is just the tool for edging. With the built-in options such as the micro-adjust depth setting and the top mounted variable speed wheel – the Colt is really easy to set and use.I also like that the base will completely separate so that it is easier/roomier to install bits in the collet and also a plus is a built-in spindle lock, although Bosch includes a spindle flat wrench along with the collet wrench. The only cons are no fence/guide although there is place set on the base to attach, and no tool storage bag of box. Not a big deal since Bosch obviously puts all the money in the tool. The router itself has very smooth operation starting with the soft start. Running 1/2″ ogee and round-over bits on pine and maple was no problem for the small Colt. Motor seemed to keep the rpm through the whole run of the board edge. The router is easy to handle with one hand. The base plate has depressions made to help grip the router from the plate for edge trimming such as one laminate.A great powerful tool for it’s compact size!

I purchased this tool for mortising an entry door jam for the garage. The old one had rotted out in places, I replaced it with PVC jamb that was not mortised for the hinges or lock plate. It was the first Router I’ve used. I tried some trial cuts on the old wood jamb and set the depth of cut. Luckily while on the old jamb, the bearing collar on the cutter bit came loose. No real harm done. Just glad it happened on the old stuff! The bit was a Woodhaven bit that I purchased with the jig plate for the hinges. I made sure the set screw was TIGHT! Then carefully set to cutting the mortises on the PVC. Unsure how well it would cut that material I took it slow at first, but found that it had no trouble routing out the material. I was able to use wood chisels to square the lock plate hole corners in the jamb. Setting the depth of cut took some time. Often, as it said in the owners manual, when you clamped and locked the setting it would change slightly. This was an aggravation, but I got through it and the job turned out looking very professional. Bosch makes a plunge attachment for this router. I believe the depth of cut might be easier set using this. I may purchase on in the future.

I enjoyed using this compact router. I did try the adjustment wheel and one point and the bit dropped down like 1/2″. Not sure what happened to cause it. It was in the locked position. Would buy again and like the fact that I can buy the plunge attachment later if I like using it.

I bought this tool to install hinges on an expensive, front door. Usually I would have used a hammer and wood chisel. This Bosch tool makes me wish I had purchased it decades ago. The results are perfect and makes me look like a professional.

Needed a trim router and have always been happy with my Bosch 1604 (maybe wrong model number but I’ve had it for a couple of days)

This tool is smooth and so easy to operate. It has enough power to route many different profiles. I’ve used it on some antique woods that are harder and it was great. I have yet to use the plunging feature, but I feel confident this router will be perfect and perform for me for years!
