The Bosch PR20EVS Colt electronic variable-speed palm router combines power, precision and versatility in a small-sized tool. It has a 1.0 HP, 5.6 Amp motor that spins at a variable speed of 16,000 to 35,000 RPM. The router features Constant Response circuitry, which maintains a consistent speed by detecting heavy loads and increasing power to maintain the selected RPM. Additionally, depth adjustment is simple, just align and lower the motor and then lock the router in position with the clamping level. It accepts standard 1/4 in. bits for flexibility, with an impressive max cutter diameter of 1-5/16 in. And the included rugged aluminum fixed base is durable, solid and precise. The Bosch GSS20-40 1/4-Sheet Orbital Finishing Sander delivers even sanding and long tool life, with a precision-machined aluminum sanding plate. It has a beefy 2.0 Amp motor that produces up to 12,000 oscillations per minute (OPM), delivering uniform and smooth results on all surfaces. It features the traditional sanding sheet clamp design, for dependable grip of 1 or more sanding sheets (it also accepts stick-on paper). The GSS20-40 features through-the-pad dust collection and a microfilter dust canister with screw-off cap. An integrated paper filter in the canister traps particles as small as 1/2 micron. The sander offers flush sanding, so the user can sand along the edges of vertical surfaces on 3 sides, for uniform sanding throughout the workpiece.

It took me a while to figure out why the sander was stopping while sanding….Then it clicked…broken wire in the cord. Took it back. Probably just a freaky thing to happen. Otherwise when it was working it seemed to do ok. Didn’t use it long enough to really know

As a “router newbie” I must confess that originally I was a bit taken aback that the unit did not include at least one router bit. But it does make sense much like a new drill may not come with a drill bit. So please be aware that you must purchase router bits separately. In all, it was relatively easy the uses. It is very portable, and though small, it has quite a bit of power. It was easy to adjust the depth, and it allows for fine tune adjustments. The RPMs/power could also be adjusted. The instructions were very detailed, which can be intimidating for a first time user, but they were written very clearly. According to the manual, the way this router came, you would not be able to use a template, but a separate add-on could be purchased so that it can be used with a template. I recommend this product to anyone who may not use routers a lot, but would need one occasionally for a woodworking project.

Good sander

it works fine. it’s simple machine. the biggest problem is the wire bails that grip the sandpaper. one bent very easily. i had to bend it back with some pliers so now i watch it closely to be sure the paper doesn’t come loose.

Replaced an old B&D, much less vibration, noise and love the dust collection!

Quite handy little pal sander. The problem I am having with it is that the clips that hold the paper in place keep giving way and the paper comes loose. Do not know if that is a defect in my sander or a sandpaper problem. Will have to contact bosch about it.

This sander is perfect for my purposes…no need for special sandpaper….really great for inside corners, such as dresser drawers.

I just purchased this sander for work on the exterior of my house, built in 1955. I am sanding off multiple layers of poorly applied paint on 6″ redwood over-lap siding. I use the sander on the horizontal V-grooves between the boards, and it does a great job. I’m using 60 grit, and I change the paper frequently. I am also using an older Bosch 3725 DEVS for the flat surfaces, and the prep project is going much faster than I expected. Bosch sanders are great.

Very good paper clamps and low vibration for this type of sander. The dust container should screw on instead of relying on an O ring. Hooking up a vacuum for dust collection is questionable.

I selected the Bosch Colt for two reasons; 1) the Bosch name – they make some great tools and 2) I needed a palm sized router for edge treatment of boards.Full sized routers are too hard to handle for edge treatment (round-over, ogee or roman) of smaller 1 X boards. The Bosch Colt is just the tool for edging. With the built-in options such as the micro-adjust depth setting and the top mounted variable speed wheel – the Colt is really easy to set and use.I also like that the base will completely separate so that it is easier/roomier to install bits in the collet and also a plus is a built-in spindle lock, although Bosch includes a spindle flat wrench along with the collet wrench. The only cons are no fence/guide although there is place set on the base to attach, and no tool storage bag of box. Not a big deal since Bosch obviously puts all the money in the tool. The router itself has very smooth operation starting with the soft start. Running 1/2″ ogee and round-over bits on pine and maple was no problem for the small Colt. Motor seemed to keep the rpm through the whole run of the board edge. The router is easy to handle with one hand. The base plate has depressions made to help grip the router from the plate for edge trimming such as one laminate.A great powerful tool for it’s compact size!
