With best-in-class impact energy at 6.1 foot pounds, the RH540M SDS-max Rotary Hammer is the hardest hitting and fastest drilling rotary hammer in its class. Delivering 38 percent more impact energy than previous generations and up to 20 percent more than competitors, the RH540M provides maximum productivity in all day drilling and chiseling applications. A variable speed dial for both drilling and chiseling applications allows users to adjust tool settings based on the application and material they’re tackling and a selector knob makes it easy to switch between hammer drilling, chiseling only and the Varo-Lock function. The Varo-Lock mechanism allows chisels to be rotated into 12 different positions to optimize working angles. The tools’ new, robust design keeps it working hard on jobsites. The RH540 tools both feature 12 amps and weigh just 14.2 pounds, delivering 1,200 to 2,750 blows per minute. Service minder brushes on the tools also keep them running at maximum capacity, as the tools clearly indicate when preventive maintenance is required. As with all Bosch SDS-max tools, the RH540M allows users to make tool-free bit changes with automatic bit locking and offers enhanced dust protection and maximum energy transfer rate.
- CONVENIENT – The Bosch RH540M Combo Rotary Hammer features the SDS-max Bit System for tool-free bit changes with automatic bit locking, dust protection and maximum impact energy transfer rate

I was needing to add water, sewage, and electrical stub outs to a shop that had an old concrete foundation. I found some Bosch core bits that would work. So, i purchased this SDS-max drill. IT drill easily through the concrete. I really like the clutch on it. If the bit catches it does not rip you arm off. Also the ability to use a variety of chisels make it even more functional and vestal. The case is perfect for me as it also holds a number of bits and chisels.

I fully reviewed this hammer against dewalt and milwaukee and found it to be the best hammer out there. I’ve used it for a month and probably drilled 150 holes and so far no issues

Feels better and has a heavier impact then the dewalt

I purchased this tool to assist in extensive renovations on my mid-century masonry home. This tool goes from drilling holes to breaking concrete seamlessly. The performance in this midsize combination hammer is awesome.

This Bosch hammer drill was so sweet to use, comfortable, with minimal vibration providing me with absolute control while perfectly drilling 1/2″ holes in 8″ concrete for pedestals. No pressure other than the weight of the tool, was needed. All I had to do was point, set and drill. It was so smooth I could do this all day if need be. This tool has exceeded my expectations. Great tool. Thanks Bosch!

It pounds right through the rock without effort. Right now I’m just using it to dig rock and clay out of my backyard. No issues!! Fully expect it to complete any task I give it. Plan to use it to break up a concrete patio and drill holes for rebar also expect to use it for tile removal.

I bought this tool primarily for chipping concrete but it also found it very effective for digging holes and trenches for gas lines in the Arizona desert. This hammer pays for itself in full on a weekly basis. I have a massive amount of tools this is the only tool I will not let anybody touch I’m still giving this Hammer 5 Stars even though there’s one thing I wish it had but doesn’t and that is the ability to lock the trigger button. Sometimes I am working this tool for several hours at a time with very short breaks in between and wears my forearms out. If you don’t have one of these get one you’ll find plenty of uses for it

I have been using this product for the past month or so doing with it whatever it’s capable of doing. I purchased a 8 bits for it to do various tasks and to test it’s limits. I first used a Bosch clay spade to help with the hard clay and shale in the bottom of post hole footings and needed to use a point bit but it worked wonders in assisting to dig the hole to the required depth. I have needed to rely on a digging iron in the past and they just tear up your hands and wear you out quickly throwing a 40lb tool into a hole to break up the earth. Now my hands feel great with the exception of the shakes you have from jittering a tool for long periods on hammer mode. The tool has the power to do quite a lot and the pros and cons I personally discovered are as follows:Pros:The tool is of a superior build quality and has the power you should expect from the brand and the price. It has all functions you should expect for a tool in this price range. It feels like a quality tool with quite a bit of heft and though heavy, it initially feels comfortable in your hands. When using the tool vertical, in most cases, the weight of the tool is enough to load the bit as well while you simply just hold the tool instead of using weight packs to assist which helps to not wear the user out so quickly. The chuck is simple to use and tight around the bit to prevent much debris from entering into the chuck. Also, the selector switch is tight and switches with a bit of force and should not easily be forced out of selection while doing tasks.Cons:I would have liked a slightly longer cord but that’s a bit picky. No other major cons except for weight, which is a PRO specifically for using this tool without applying your own force. Apart from the tool specifically, the bit are expensive and I wish some longer lengths were available without the need of an extension which is also an added expense when you need it.I highly recommend this product for many of the heavy duty tasks as breaking through a CMU wall, concrete floor, digging tough earth and many, many more reasons. With that, I strongly urge you to research the bits prior to completely committing to this tool so you understand the expense that comes with it in order to completely use it to its fullest potential.

This is a very good and heavy duty SDS Max hammer drill. Most recently I got to test it for a variety of jobs around my house. I used it to chip out asphalt, to cut paver bricks, and to drill holes in a concrete wall. I have attached a video to show at least one job. The power of this item is very good, with the ability to easily cut through all of the above listed materials. The construction of this tool is very strong as the environment which one would use this is generally not a forgiving work environment. Lots of dirt, and garbage around, and most times one is not treating the tools like babies. Get the job done is the mantra, so the tools can take a hit. This one though, should last for a real long time. The clutch which protects both you and the hammer drill, is not too slippy, but not too strong. It is well adjusted to release only under a fairly hi stuck loading factor (like you forgot to switch to hammer only while using a chisel).Take a look at the video, as this shows its ease of use cutting some pavers. I highly rate this one…
