I’ve had the RH745 for several years and didn’t realize how much I used it and how valuable to my business it was until it was stolen. I immediately went out and purchased another and will be a lot more careful with this one. Whether driving in ground rods or drilling through concrete, it can’t be beat. On one jobsite it drove 35 ground rods in the same amount of time it took for one man with a sledgehammer. It literally paid for itself on one job. Also has an endless selection of bits for every occasion. Obviously I think the world of this tool, but whatever I say doesn’t say enough about the great value this tool brings to the jobsite.

Bought the drill and several core bits recently which worked to perfection. Made my work much easier and it looked perfect once completed. Couldn’t be happier. I would like to know if Bosch makes an extension for the core bits?

I’m using the RH745 primarily for drilling holes in granite. For breaking rock I drill 5/8″ holes for feathers and wedges, which takes about 1 minute per hole. I also drill 1-1/4″ holes for splitting with expansive cement. That’s about the largest size I would recommend with this tool in granite. I’m sure larger bit sizes would be OK in concrete. RPM’s are surprisingly low but very effective. It’s the impact energy that does the job. The hammer is surprisingly easy to use and control, especially for vertical holes. For horizontal holes it’s more of a chore and I prefer a smaller Bosch.

It’s a great hammer drill that will do what you ask of it. We have to drive numerous ground rods and there is no better tool to do it. It can take a couple of hours to drive one in manually. On average the RH745 will drive one in in less than a minute. The tool has paid for itself several times over just driving ground rods.

I used this drill 100 plus hours building my house, It was good for tamping ground with a tamper attachment, diging trenches with spade for electric and plumbing underground, pounding ground rods, rebar and spikes into the ground as stakes for concrete forms, leveling high areas around pipes and drilling holes for red dot 5/8 concrete anchors used to secure interior walls. I recently put an echo auger on it and used it to put steel pipes in the ground for fencing and installed 500’ of fence. It tore through the ground no problem but really pushed the drill to its limits. So far drill has held up OK and still looks like new. Add the Bosch drill chuck adaptor and use as a regular drill for bigger hole saws and drilling.

I was able to go through my basement slap in about 10 minutes. The clutch that engages and prevents major kickback is awesome. It really saves you from injuries.

A fine moderate weight digging and drilling tool. Very versatile and powerful enough to handle tough jobs. Easy to operate. I have only been using it for a bit over a week so I don’t know how it will hold up over the long haul. But so far very good indeed.
