This is a single speed sander with good dust collection. I am an avid woodworking hobbyist and I have owned a variable speed Dewalt for many years. The dust collection on the Dewalt sander is very poor and I also do not find much use for the variable speed. I am quite happy with this Bosch sander.

Can’t recommend enough. Comfortable palm grip, even for someone with small hands, or women.Very good dust collection. Even without hooking up a vacuum hose, the dust collector on the back traps virtually everything, leaving virtually no dust on the work surface.Very quiet, no ear protection needed (always use eyes and ears anyway but hey…)Variable speed like the dewalt might be nice for some applications, but I’ve never found this one wanting for not having this feature.

I threw some 80 grit on and was amazed at the results. The ROS10 quickly restored a smooth finish to a weathered fence picket. Also I connect the sander to my dust collection with a hose and the results are excellent.
