The Bosch ROS20VSC 5″ Random Orbit Sander/Polisher furnishes an optimized combination of pad orbit and rotation that delivers fast removal and a well-blended, ultra-smooth finish. I’m restoring the red wood trim in my 1911 craftsman home, and this has been the best sander I’ve used so far. Since all the sanding is being done in my home, I needed a good filtration system and have been extremely satisfied with the dust management. If you’re needing an orbital sander for a large project I highly recommend this one. I would recommend it to everyone.

My last 2 palm sanders were Porter Cable #333. This sander seems to transmit less vibration to the hand then the Porter Cables. I just bought it so we will see how it holds up.

Bosch has always been a brand name I know I can trust. I wanted to buy the ROS65VC-6, but at more than double the price, I couldn’t justify it. For the money, this is a great sander. But if I’m honest, I expected the random orbit action to be a little more stable. You need to get used to holding this sander to keep it level on the surface, especially at lower speeds. Having a grip attached to the front of the ROS65VC-6 is probably worth the extra cost. But not for me today.

After several years of working with another brand of random orbit sander, I finally tired of the fact that it was doing more orbiting than randoming. I had tried a Festool sander in a demo, but could not afford it. I was pleasantly surprised to find the Bosch sander at a good price. My first use of the sander on a large walnut countertop told me that this was a good purchase. The sander orbits randomly. The dust collection is excellent. Most surprising of all to me was that I could run the sander for more than five minutes without causing my hand to begin vibrating on its own. Highly recommend.
