I bought this for pruning and used it only a few times when the blade broke off inside the head where the broken off piece couldn’t be reached to remove it, even with pliers. After many tries and the imbedded blade piece would not dislodge and fall out — despite lots of tries. Disassembling the head is the only solution, but the process is complicated and tricky. Broken blades are a common problem and they often break in a way that can’t be reached for removal. So why aren’t these tools designed for a DIY remedy of this common problem? End of my story: Rather than send the tool in for repair, I luckily found a lock picker who fixed it with his tools on site. Should have been an easier DYI fix!

This was my first reciprocating saw, I needed to use a 12″ pruning blade and had I known the orbital action would make the blade flop around like crazy I would have bought one without the orbital action. The orbital action works good with short blades.

I bought this tool because of my previous experience with Bosch tools. I have a Makita Reciprocal tool, but had a lot of trouble with the blades vibrating loose. This tool has a different blade attachment that prevents this from happening. It has worked very well since I bought it.

Easy to load the blade into and change, plenty of power, easy to hold, and well balanced. This tool has proven to be ideal for me. It appealed to me originally because it felt better balanced in my hands than the other brands offered and has proven to be the absolute best one for me in use. It has been used not only by me, but by some professional landscapers to cut 6″ X 6″ timbers for the new retaining wall on my driveway. The workers really liked it and declaired they would be buying one just like it to replace their old one. I have used it on wood and metal and it is my “go to” saw for any number of projects. Just wish I had bought it earlier.

This tool has tons of power. It’s size and weight make it easy to handle, though it’s not something I’d want to have to run for hours on end. I wish that there was an ability to turn off the random orbit, that action makes some of the more aggressive demo blades a little too aggressive (sometimes tearing instead of cutting) and is may not always be necessary or desirable when cutting steel or PVC. Also, after a few uses the tool appears to be leaking grease out of the shaft. I’m not sure if that’s a normally accepted byproduct of use or if there’s something legitimately wrong.
