With a compact design, Companion 20 Multimedia Speaker System from Bose consists of two speakers with enough oomph to handle audio for all of your movies, games, and music on your computer. The speakers feature Bose’s TrueSpace technology to reproduce wide, natural sound and also rely upon an advanced ported design for delivering deep bass notes. The speakers maintain a balanced sound with a built-in active electronic equalization technology.
This speaker system comes with a control pod that features a headphone input jack as well as a 3.5mm auxiliary input jack that allows you to connect an MP3 player. This control pod also allows you to adjust or mute the volume. The system connects to your computer’s 3.5mm input jack and is AC-powered.

My Companion 20 Multimedia Speaker System is by far, the most superb computer speakers I have used. Every note, chord, sound, voice is carried throughout my office; which is essential as I use this for telecommunication and conference listening, and lectures. Ease of setup is practically mindless. And when listening to my favorite tunes, and social media, I am beyond impressed with the sound quality. Bose always does it right!!

I was expecting the customary crisp and clear sound characteristic of Bose speakers, but I was let down. These speakers do not match their greatness published. I had to download an equalizer to compensate for lack of high end frequencies and add some low end lacking in these speakers. Their sound focuses on the mid-range but does not pronounce the crisp frequencies or even the tight low end expected from speakers of this nature. I speak as a sound engineer and a lover of audio generally.

I have had Bose Companion speakers for over 5 years and have to report they are the best solution for home / office / apartment environments possible. I drive them from my Apple iMac and enjoy Pandora all day long. The sound quality is terrific and the companion pod is perfect for muting and volume control. Really, ever. I’ve been a PC user since 1991 and connected my first computer speakers a year later. I’ve had some great speaker systems, including many 5.1 components. Until these Bose Companion 20 speakers, all the 2-speaker systems I’ve tried have been mediocre at best. Seven years ago I had to move into a small apartment with thin walls. I never wanted my neighbors to be forced to listen to my music and videos and I hated being subjected to theirs. Consequently, I switched to 2-speaker setups and used high quality headphones for those times I wanted or needed better sound. My old speakers must have been getting weaker because I found myself using the headphones more and more. Unfortunately, that meant I missed phone calls and knocks on my door occasionally. But I just didn’t belive new speakers were warranted because I’d never heard any that produced very good quality sound. One day, while cruising a local store, I saw a display of Bose speaker systems. There was a 2.1 and a 5.1 system. I listened to both and, although I realized I could never have sound as nice as those in my apartment, it did make me miss those days when I could. But they also had the Companion 20 speakers set up, so I turned them on too. I was really surprised at the quality of sound. I’ve been a fan of pop, R&B and dance beat music all my life and the tracks I heard on that display really showed me that there was a 2-speaker system that could do that kind of sound justice. I was still worried, though, that the sound would resonate through my walls and annoy the neighbors. It wasn’t until I was walking away from the speaker display that I realized that, just a short distance away, the sound was nothing like what it is when standing in front of the speakers. The first thing I did when I got home was come here to B&H and looked to see if they had these speakers. They did and I read all the reviews. I was convinced these speakers might be just what I needed at home. I ordered them and set them up. The sound was amazing. I have not used my headphones since. Good thing too, because these speakers have much better sound quality than my VERY expensive headphones. Still, I worried my neighbors could hear the bass – I love the bass response from these speakers – and I did not want neighbors that felt like they wanted to pound on the walls to shut me up. I loaded up one of my favorite George Michael albums and went next door to visit my neighbors. The sound was barely noticable and not even objectionable when standing next to the shared wall. I asked if they had heard any sounds from my apartment and they said they hadn’t noticed anything that bothered them, even during the early morning hours I tend to keep before going to bed. These speakers are, by far, the best 2-speaker system I’ve ever had. They are even better than some 4 and 5-speaker systems I’ve had. Great tonal quality across the board – of course, I am not an audiophile and know very little about the technical aspects of speakers and sound cards. I just know what I like and I like these speakers… a LOT.

I’ve had these for a few years now and love them to the point of I really don’t even think about buying any new components for stereo. The one issue I had was with the control pod. It eventually sort of lost its synchronicity and was difficult to dial in the volume.

Mine are connected to computer workstation where my wife and I listen to CD’s and she also listens to iPhone whatever ??. Bought a Stereo Mini Male to Stereo Mini Male Cable 6 foot to connect from the control unit to iPhone – cable stays in the controller all the time – she just plugs into iPhone to use the speakers. Works just as advertised. Sounds quite good and I am very pleased with unit.

For how compact these speakers are they deliver such an amazing balance of sound and bass, and believe me the bass is amazing. The sound quality will amaze people. I have used Bose speakers in my home exclusively for the last ten years and own several of their products, and these are by far the most disappointing. After a couple months use, I’ve noticed the sound quality is really distorted out of the left speaker, even at very low volumes. I have tried every troubleshooting tip and adjusted my input volume multiple times with the same result — the same static-y, distorted sound. I’ve always admired Bose for its quality, but these speakers really miss the mark.

i bought this today. Over the companion 20 are ok. The base is very good in this small speaker. but treble are very low compare to the base. As a result it become little miss match and only the base become very loud. it should make some clear treble also.

These speakers produce nice bass and crisp sound. I have owned these speakers for five years and they still perform at an excellent level. The price has remained the same, but I believe that these speakers are worth the price.
