With a compact design, Companion 20 Multimedia Speaker System from Bose consists of two speakers with enough oomph to handle audio for all of your movies, games, and music on your computer. The speakers feature Bose’s TrueSpace technology to reproduce wide, natural sound and also rely upon an advanced ported design for delivering deep bass notes. The speakers maintain a balanced sound with a built-in active electronic equalization technology.
This speaker system comes with a control pod that features a headphone input jack as well as a 3.5mm auxiliary input jack that allows you to connect an MP3 player. This control pod also allows you to adjust or mute the volume. The system connects to your computer’s 3.5mm input jack and is AC-powered.

Great, full sound without requiring a separate subwoofer. I also have the Bose companion 5 speakers for my home computer, and these are just as good (for office use, where I’m not turning the volume too high, but want good sound while I’m working late).

The speakers sound great. They were easy to set up and the control pod puts the sound control in easy arms reach.

I bought these to replace the Klipsch 2.1 Promedia speaker system because the bass speaker took up too much room. The Bose Companion 20 speaker system was an ideal replacement for the Klipsch. The sound quality is comparable, I saved a lot of room on my desk and these are really stylish next to an iMac. If you want excellent sound quality from your computer but don’t want your computer to be your primary media center, then the speakers are for you. Regular computer audio that you hear watching YouTube, Netflix and clips from SoundCloud sound excellent. The bass thump is substantial but not as crisp or deep as you would get from a 2.1 system. But when I am at the computer, I don’t always want heavy thumping blasts coming directly at me. I have a 5.1 media center for that with proper distance from the speakers. The Bose are in your space but not in your face. They provide a pleasing sound for speakers that are up close to you.

to be honest, I love these speakers. They replaced an older set of bose PC speakers that were smaller, and initially I was worried about the larger design…it didn’t feel as solid as my old ones. But the sound quality is amazing, and the deep tones from these is much broader then in my older set. The only reason this gets 3 stars is my odd setup. my speakers are up on a shelf above my PC desk, and the power/volume control cord is only about 4 inches long or so. that’s it. So if I want to adjust the volume via the real solid and well designed volume control, I have to stand up and reach behind my PC. Bad choice, and it’s such a simple thing it drives me crazy. Give us a longer cord, or even offer an extension cord! of course, the one thing that they design bad, they also put their proprietary connector on it So you can’t just go to the store and buy an extension for it…and they they don’t offer one in their store. I’d buy it, seriously. but no… It may seem extreme to drop 2 stars for that, but it’s such a stupid limitation to have on such an amazing set of speakers. Cmon Bose, you can get another 20$ out of me if you make an extension cord. But instead you get a bad review. sad.

Was looking for a pair of computer speakers that have nice bass. These speakers do indeed provide that! Music and movies sound great on these speakers. Really powerful and full sound. Love the little control module as well. So simple to control volume levels plus you can tap the top to quickly turn off the speakers (aka mute). Very well designed.

These are great speakers with great sound for the size but the whole system is dependent on the control pod which is very finicky and has stopped working on me twice now. It takes hours of plugging and unplugging to get the control pod working again.

Great speakers! Nobody makes better sound systems than BOSE!

Great sound, great depth. Also, looks very nice next to an iMac (or any other computer, I would think).

I have used this speaker system on other computers and it worked fine. I recently purchased a Windows 10 laptop and now all I get when hooked up is a hum. The speakers are in excellent condition so I cannot understand why I cannot get audio and at least some assistance from Bose.

I’ve only had these over the past weekend. I bought these along with a Logitech Z906 to compare. Apples to Oranges, but I ended up deciding to keep the Bose because of the size, simplicity of use, and overall sound quality. They have a very open and dimensional sound at the low and higher volume range. If you are looking for a simple 2.0 desktop setup with premium build quality and full sound, these are hard to beat comparing to what’s out there in the price range.

Great speakers. Looks great beside the iMac but most importantly, sounds awesome. Just the right amount of bass I need on top of my desk. The volume and mute knob (that also has an input and headphone jackets) is very handy! Wish it could be connected to the computer using the USB for even better sound quality (plus it could got to to sleep when the computer sleeps). It’s pricey, but worth it.

This is not just your regular multimedia speakers. This is just the perfect pair of speakers for who is looking for real sound quality. Whish there’s still an individual bass control on the pod.

The cords come wrapped in plastic. The plastic is sealed with cellophane tape. You need a utility knife to get the tape off. I used a utility knife and pulled on the cord to get the tape off. The second time I used the speakers the Control Pod developed a short. I wonder why?

very nice sound but I like the base of the old companion 3 which I have also.

The title says it all. Just recently I noticed the stunning similarity between Sounddock II and these cute little bassmonsters: they both take advantage of WAVEGUIDE and both have two 2.75′ full-range built inside so I eventually figured out they’re just reengineered SOUNDDOCK I/II/III, side by side comparison confirms my thoughts: they sound identical.

Bose is the best sound quality. You cannot argue with that. But for such a price leap above the $99 desk speakers to $249, I would expect much higher volume capability. At full blast, I can still sit at the desk and listen comfortably. For $249, it should drown out all the other noise in the room! that’s all.

I rarely write reviews, but I bought these speakers and a headset for my husband for Christmas. Our computer is in the same room as the TV and he is constantly playing YouTube videos or music while I watch TV. The control pod that allows you to plug in a headset is just what we needed. The control pod is really nice as you touch the top of the pod to turn the speakers on/off and rotate the outer perimeter of the pod to turn the volume up and down. This setup is absolutely perfect and was very easy to set up!!! And nothing needs to be said about the incredible sound quality from Bose !!! My husband has told me every day since Christmas how much he loves these speakers !!!
