i bought this as a companion to my computer to really hear good sounds for my streaming movies. i have bose speakers because of the superlative sound that they give. i have 901’s, two sets of 201’s, 301’s, and a cinemate surround sound sound system. so naturally,i went to bose companion 2 series III to expect the same. boy was i blown away, love them.

My wife bought these for me to use in our home office, or as she calls it, ‘the lair’. The sound reproduction is very good, better than any computer speakers we have ever used. The only problem is the limited separation , since the standard code is only about six feet and by the time you drop it though one desktop cord opening and up through another you can only get them about four feet apart. The cable connections are non-standard, so it’s not easy to remedy this. However, a very nice gentleman at Bose online support is shipping me an extension that will allow me to get the full eight foot separation on my work station. A nice addition to these would be a connection for a separate woofer. I have a very good one but no connection is available.

I bought these speakers this week . I connected them to my tv they work great, however Bose should make an extension for the cable that goes between speakers. Six feet is net long enough in some cases.

I’ve been looking for speakers for my classroom for what seems like forever. I found some that work great but weigh a ton. Hesitant to spend even more money, I thought I would try these speakers from Bose. I new the sound quality would be great, but I could not imagine the way the sound fills the room! Every sound is clear. Sound clips, movies, and music can now be heard by everyone in the room. The best $ I’ve spent since I bought poster paper!!

For once I can say that Bose gives one his money’s worth, with this product. It was the many other great reviews that persuaded me to try these for my wife; without those many reviews, I would have avoided them altogether.They are full and flat (referring to the spectrum, and that is a good thing); those that find too much bass, I suspect, need huge, thumping volume, and not desktop speakers. There is more than enough of the lower end in these little wonders. They are reasonably well built, and they DO adequately fill a good-sized room with music, remarkably evenly across the audible spectrum. Tired of cheap-sounding desktop speakers? These are the answer, and I’ll give anyone my positive recommendation, with experience to back it.

Excellent desktop speakers, great for watching movies or videos, or listening to music at lower volumes. Just don’t expect them to rattle the windows. I do agree with other reviewers that there needs to be a small Power On light on the knob so you know that they are turned on, and where the volume setting is.

I got my pair of these speakers and over all I’m am very satisfied with its performance, i have been using as a sort of studio monitors and overall they deliver. I have also used these on maximum volume for a long duration and and they still sounded great. They both sound great in low volume and high. i have even made my own volume control knob and removed the stock built in one for a more cleaner look and wrapped them

Great set of starter speakers. I purchased my pair back in 2006 and they are still going strong. Although, I’ve since upgraded to the Companion 5. What I like the most about these speakers is there simplicity. Plug them in and they are ready to go. No need for a sub. Would highly recommend. Also can be used to upgrade a TVs sound quality.

I bought this originally for audio from a modern player piano system. Not volume enough for this application. Plugged into my MacBook it is better suited but still the volume range is limited. As others have mentioned a power ON light would be helpful. The Left speaker performs fine but the Right/main controller speaker is uneven stereo and barely makes a sound, but, plugged into my iPod it works fine. All cables check out fine so I suppose the Mac has output problems but still work fine with headphones.
