Hold your 15.6" laptop and organize all of your accessories in this streamlined, black Metrolite Backpack XF from Brenthaven. An incorporated butterfly design allows travelers to quickly unzip the backpack for a quicker trip through airport security. This makes access to your computer faster when clearing checkpoints, eliminating the need to open the entire pack. The other half of the pack can be used for files, collateral material, or other essential items.
The pack features a combination file organizer and media storage compartment that also contains a handy key ring. The front zippered organizer panel contains multiple pockets for accessories as well as a dedicated AC adapter pocket. There’s also a vertical zippered pocket for additional storage. The bottom of the pack contains an additional horizontal zippered storage pocket for your AC adapter and cords. Access to all compartments, except the vertical one, is via dual zippers.
You can carry your backpack by way of the adjustable, contoured backpack straps or top grab handle. There is also a combination rear slip pocket that converts into a trolley sleeve to allow you to thread the pack over your optional luggage cart. The interior features high-density foam padding that creates a cradle for your laptop and keeps it off the bottom of the case, protecting it from bumps while traveling. The exterior is made from PVC-free, water-repellent micro-ballistic nylon with a polyurethane coating.

This is my second purchase of a Brenthaven product (I bought the ProLite II Shoulder Case a few years ago). They are not the cheapest product for toting a laptop but they are certainly well built and provide perhaps the best protective padding on the market. The MetroLite is a fantastic backpack. Stylish and tidy with a nice snug fit for my 15 MBP. Shoulder straps are comfortable with no need for a sternum strap. My one criticism is that the ancillary pockets are a little tight on space. While laptop accessories (power converter, cables, mouse, etc.), cell phone, wallet, ticket/passport pouch, and even an iPad, all fit very comfortably, don’t plan on trying to carry text books or large note pads. It’s a neat backpack with more than enough room for the essentials but not much else. That’s exactly what I needed so it has absolutely met my requirements.

I’ve been carrying this for 5+ years. I’m back now to buy one for my son who has finally accepted that I was right and he was wrong. This is the perfect blend of lightweight / small and yet spacious enough for a laptop, tablet, 3 backup bricks, multiple phones, chargers, headphones (in hard-sided carry case), etc. Oh, and it zips open so you can lay it flat while going through security w/o removing your laptop / tablet. Fabric frayed in a few spots a little earlier than expected but when it’s time to replace it I’ll buy another…
