If anyone finds a definitive answer to the question of which color goes first, please post. My best guess is based on other 2-stage brita filters which also happen to be color coded and in those products RED goes FIRST in the flow line.

just changed them and the water tastes great. after letting water run for a few minuteslet it run till water was clear (charcoal color at beginning)

Wouldn’t it be nice if BRITA would clearly delineate in their packaging instructions which color cartridge is supposed to be the pre-filter? Wouldn’t it be nice if BRITA would at least put this information on their website (since they didn’t put it on the packaging instructions)? Pretty basic, don’t you think?
