I have had the printer for a little over a month and really like the printer! It was easy to set up, prints fast, and the double-sided scanning is fantastic. I do wish there were more documentation on the supplied software. My only complaint is the lack of ability to scan directly to PDF using the on-printer menu and iPrint&Scan app.

I still have the same ink cartridges and use this for business. Excellent quality, easy to learn and economical.

The output quality is very good, more like a 4 star, but configuring and troubleshooting a definitely a 3. For example, I tried doing the emailing of docs to the printer, but it’s confusing and I continuously receive a Recieving Error that has no details to help troubleshoot it (and an internet search for the error returns a lot of different ways to get this error). The printer is pretty quiet, but it is rather large. It also gives the appearance of being much older since the only available color was the off-white. The scan feature is good and produces nice images, but should offer additional and higher dpi. The surface area is nice and large. Admittedly, I haven’t tried all the features, but the most important ones for me are the ones I’ve mentioned. Please don’t think of me as some amateur user, I’ve been in IT for over 30 years and know how to troubleshoot hardware.

The single pass in scanning speeds up jobs. And is quiet.

The purchase of this printer was an emergency. My old Brother machine, 9 years old, suddenly died. When I ordered this one, it was supposed to arrive on a Monday by 10pm, but Sunday mornimg at 7:30am, I was awakened by it’s delivery! I’ll take an early arrival! The great thing was that I had the printer up & running well before business on Monday. Everything’s been running great!

I spent about $100 more for this unit that I have for other units in the same class in the past, and I am very glad I did. This thing is built like a tank and has so many features, the duplex scan feature being one of my favorites. It scans both sides of a document at the same time and does it way faster than just probably any other unit in this class. The printing is fast and quiet. There are so many things to love about this printer. It is a big boy, but for what it does, I am learning to like the size. The only issue I have found so far is the behavior between ADF scan orientation and the platen: When I set up my customizations for ADF scanning so the scanned page orientation is correct, I get different orientation results in the scanned page when I scan using the platen. Not sure how to fix this yet. Otherwise, a killer product. This is an industrial-strength unit and is probably overkill for most home offices. But I’d rather have too much than the too little that I got with the Canon and Epson printers ostensibly in the same class. No comparison in my opinion.

Moving up from the MFC-J6910DW, I see many welcome improvements, with the most obvious being the MultiPurpose tray holding a stack of paper, rather than being limited to a single sheet. The appearance of the lower paper tray (tray #2) when loaded with Ledger-size paper (11×17) is much cleaner than the older system, and having the trays accept letter-size paper at a 90-degree angle helps, as it means reconfiguration of the tray in only one dimension when switching between letter and ledger. The TWAIN driver works perfectly with FileCenter. The only thing preventing a 5-star review is that the iPrint&Scan software is *still* a 32-bit application, with the inherent memory limitations. Attempting to scan an 11×17 color image at 1200dpi gives a “Memory full-cannot continue” error message. For these cases, I use the PreScan option and then perform partial scans of the page to combine.

I purchased this for my small home office and couldn’t be more pleased! Quick, easy to use and set up was completed in no time. Instructions are also easy to follow. Yes, I would highly recommend!

Printing and scanning quality has been excellent. Ink consumption is very reasonable and economical. The trays are great. But there is something wrong with how it copies. Especially if you are trying to copy small items such as checks, the machine often decides on its own to rotate the image 90 degrees from how you want it, and there’s nothing that you can do about it. We have contacted Brother’s service department about it and after trying all sorts of re-sets, copy original placement experiments, etc., they told us that this is how it’s supposed to function. We have to think that many other customers are just as inconvenienced by this “feature” as we are. We keep hoping for a software fix for this problem, it is a huge problem. There is nothing in the menu, and no way that you can position items on the screen, to avoid this awful phenomenon. This is our only complaint about an otherwise great machine, but for us it is a huge inconvenience.

Printing, scanning and copying all work wonderfully!! Very nice auto operation for different types of scans. Exellent!!

I used to try to print photos but gave it up as too much trouble. What I need is a competent printer that that prints when I ask it to. this one does.

love the machine, but fax still not working properly

It is larger then some of the other printers you can purchase but it has more paper holding capacity as larger ink bottles and the print quality if excellent.

I am in love with my printer/copier. The WiFi capabilities and the ability to load 11 x 17 paper in a tray is a life saver for our business.

I am very disappointed with the connections, both USB and network with this printer, MFCJ6945DW. The print quality is great…when you actually can get it to print. Very disappointing for a “office quality” printer.

the printer has broken down … I’m still waiting for a proposal from B&H …
