Simple to connect and offering print, scan, copy, and fax capabilities in a single unit, the MFC-J895DW-series Work Smart All-in-One Inkjet Printer from Brother will fill a variety of critical roles in any home or home office. It offers good speed with 12 ppm printing in black and 10 ppm in color. It also will create detailed photographs and sharp text with a print resolution of 6000 x 1200 dpi. Along with this, automatic duplex and borderless printing are available at print sizes up to 8.5 x 11", though the unit can handle documents as large as 8.5 x 14".
Scanning and faxing are possible due to the integration of a flatbed and 20-sheet ADF that handles your documents and photos. The max optical resolution is 2400 x 1200 dpi for creating vivid, finely detailed images. Also, it has a 2.7" color touchscreen LCD for checking status and adjusting settings. Standard paper handling is possible via the 100-sheet input tray and a bypass feed is available for certain media.
Setting up the MFC-J895DW is simple with options for USB 2.0, Wi-Fi, and Ethernet with NFC connectivity. Users will also be able to connect directly with their mobile devices using Wi-Fi Direct. In addition to this, a USB host port is available for plugging in portable flash drives and there is a vast array of mobile printing support.

The printer runs out of ink quickly and when one of 4 color ink cartridges runs low, the printer repeatedly sends nonsensical messages to my phone that the printer is low on ink and asks you to either cancel or continue, but repeatedly selecting continue does not result in black and white printing – just more annoying messages on my phone to cancel or continue. Very very irritating.

I have only one complaint. When I execute a print from my computer and when the print is completed, I get a false notification of a paper jam. I press the X button and everything returns to normal. Everything else is excellent.

Brother printers have been reliable for the most part; However, I picked one up for two reasons – the size fit the space I had plus the ink was reasonably priced. However, recently the price for their ink doubled so I found an alternative. I was using the alternative for several months until a firmware upgrade it made me complete and now all off brand cartridges now show as an error and you can only use the ink Brother provides. Well Brother…you now have lost a loyal customer and I will do my best to spread the word to other hard working Americans who need every dollar we earned. I hope your sales decline steadily!

This printer has performed well for my home printing and scanning needs. Printer set up was quick, less than 15 minutes, and connections to WiFi, computer, and cell phone were also fast. For anyone needing a solid home computer, I recommend this product. It may cost a few more dollars than bargain basement printers, but I think it is worth it in the end.

Set up wirelessly was a SNAP…no issues at all. Commands are intuitive…no brainers. Machine uses less ink than my former MX922 did and so far I’ve seen no limitations to it’s extended use. Unsure if Brother intends to stay in the small ink-jet market, but if they do, this should always be a product purchase option.

I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. One of my favorite features of this printer is how quiet it is! I have often had to go ask if something has printed because it`s made virtually no noise like other printers. The ink quality is fabulous though it did need to be adjusted when the ink cartridges were first installed, but I think that`s pretty normal with most printers. For all the functions that this printer does, the size is actually quite small. Where my previous printer had to be turned at an awkward angle to fit on the desk, this fits perfect. I highly recommend this printer.
