Straight out of the box and easy set up and simple interfaces. Just added the mobile app and likewise simple set-up and operation. Good printer at a bargain price.

The perfect review word for this printer is “excellent”.

Works great and is easy to set-up and use. Printing is much better than my previous printer from another manufacturer.

This struck me as a pretty feature filled low cost printer. I especially like the ability to replace cartridges individually and as needed . . . instead of having to buy 3 colors together for example. You can also get larger capacity cartridges, nice for me because I typically use little color. 2-sided printing is a good feature and so far works well. Haven’t used the printer a lot, but works well. Haven’t tried any scanning so I can’t comment on that.

Nice printer, works well. I did not install the scan or fax software initially, and was not able to get it installed at a later time, despite many attempts with the support area. if you expect to use them, do it all initially.

Bought this to replace a frequently-breaking HP, based on Brother’s good ratings. However I can’t make a manual-feed, multipage scan when controlling from my PC screen. To do that I have to work from the control panel on the 895. Took trial’n’error to figure that out.

Generally happy with the machine. NOT happy about the PC fax program does not have the ability to provide confirmation that the PC fax was successfully sent. Brother programmers PLEASE CORRECT THIS ISSUE.

After years of fighting ink battles with other printers, so far this one produces the number of prints advertised

Bought so I could print on cardstock. Ive only been able to print maybe 10 total over its lifespan. other colors continue to get used up despite only printing in B/W. Print quality is absolutely terrible. I cannot be more displeased with my purchase. I wanted a simple machine that would perform a simple task and this one somehow fails to deliver on any of them. I don’t even print all that often! Maybe a couple times a month, and yet that is still too much to ask.

Most important for me was wireless, ease of use, with fast speed and double sided printing. Color and black and white. The bonus is that the set up was also easy. Works great.

So happy with my purchase. I love that it comes out of sleep when I print. It was very easy to scan. My only issue is that I don’t see where I can change the settings to scan to one file. You can add pages easily enough. Will call Brother. Seems to use less ink than others I have had.

Easy to set up and link. Print speed and quality are great. Does not use excessive ink for maintenance as my previous HP printer did

I replaced my Brother MFC 495 which was still working fine but kept losing connection to my router, likely due to its age an no more firmware update since 2012 (I believe that was the last one). Even though it was still working, I am glad that I upgraded. I love the scan to email feature. Makes it much easier for my wife who is not too computer savvy. Print quality is similar to the older 495 model. It also allows for shortcuts for easy scan options and allows the option to add a PIN for added protection prior to scanning to a source. I knocked a star off because either the print cartridges that come with it are almost empty or the printer uses a lot of ink. My Cyan ran out in no time. Also, as others have stated, it makes a whirring noise when scanning. Aside from that, I really like the printer. And, it stays connected to my router.

operation is quite loud and sometimes the auto feeder does not work well. Cost of ink is a little more than I like, but we did do a lot of printing for home schooling four kids and getting their work done. It did operate flawlessly except when ink gets low. There should be a way to override low ink when it is necessary.
