With enough ink to print for up to one year included in the box, this MFC-J995DW All-In-One Inkjet Printer from Brother is ready to satisfy your printing, copying, scanning, and faxing needs for the home or office. With print resolutions up to 6000 x 1200 dpi, documents and graphics are crisp and clear on pages as large as 8.5 x 14″. Copying and scanning is possible via the flatbed CIS scanner. The unit also has faxing capabilities that can store 180 pages in its memory and transfer files at speeds of 14.4 kb/s. Additionally, the printer lets you wirelessly print from a desktop, laptop, smartphone, and tablet via NFC and Wi-Fi.

I have owned several Brother printers over the years. The MFC-J995DW offers decent print quality and features for the money. Unfortunately, Brother has chosen to make the printer’s firmware closed. You cannot use a browser to change printer settings like in the older Brother printers. Also, since the firmware is closed, you cannot use your browser to start a scan. Yes, I know you can start a scan from the little 2 inch screen on the front of the printer, but that process is tedious. Please bring back browser access to the printer’s features and functions.

Prints well on all types of Paper. There is only one Issue and It’s a big one for me. It’s constantly losing communication to my computers, phone, and tablet. Researching after the fact it looks like this is a known issue. Super inconvenient and aggravating.

Two items are annoying, both minor. The copy reduction selection is limited to a short list of pre set shrinkages or up sizing. Previous printers have a full percentage of sizing up or down. I have the ads that seem to wake the printer up and remind me of mother’s day, or similar reasons to buy from Brother. I cannot find a way to stop them.

SUPER EASY to work with…except for the occasional connectivity issue…sees the printer but loses the correct port config on (1) of (2) printers in our office…even when uninstalling and reinstalling…very odd…can print to one, but not the other ?…only way i have been able to solve the issue is to find a colleague that CAN print, then copy their port information…no, updates or install the whole Brother suite does not solve either…

This printer offers tremendous ink economy while maintaining a reasonable print quality. It is fully featured, with ample capabilities for a home application, as well adequate capabilities for a small business. The one item that could be improved is with the scanning feature as it does not easily allow for multi-page files. As is, it assigns one page per file.

I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. I am impressed with this Brother MFC-J995DW XL Printer. It boasts great features with consuming little space. I set this up in my craft/sewing room so I could print out my sewing patterns. It takes no time to set up and the instructions are very clear. Having come with 2 years worth of ink in the box makes this a no-brainer decision! I am tired of running out of ink or having quality issues with my previous printer. I am easily able to print directly from my smart phone, which makes it even easier to be ready to accomplish projects when I walk into my room. The best feature is the ability to print from a SD card or flash drive without having to use my laptop. The fax feature is accessible from the touch screen, which is a plus since I don`t have a house line, I don`t have to look at extra buttons that will not be used.The printer cable is hidden under the scanner, which is a great feature! I am not a fan of excess cables/wires hanging out – great use of space!My only complaint is that the non-white color of the machine doesn`t match up with all the white Brother sewing machines I have.

Unfortunately I must report the following: slow printing/copying, color is not true to original, color prints/copies with streaks and uneven colors, B&W is streaked with blank lines even following multiple cleanings of print nozzles, duplex printing is not automatic. Ink usage seems to be reasonable, but hard to evaluate as the tanks are 2-year and the printer is less than a year old. Unsatisfactory for church orders of worship and newsletters.
