With enough ink to print for up to two years included in the box, this MFC-J995DWXL All-In-One Inkjet Printer from Brother is ready to satisfy your printing, copying, scanning, and faxing needs for the home or office. With print resolutions up to 6000 x 1200 dpi, documents and graphics are crisp and clear on pages as large as 8.5 x 14″. Copying and scanning is possible via the flatbed CIS scanner. The unit also has faxing capabilities that can store 180 pages in its memory and transfer files at speeds of 14.4 kb/s. Additionally, the printer lets you wirelessly print from a desktop, laptop, smartphone, and tablet via NFC and Wi-Fi.

This printer is adequate at best. Because we do not print very often it serves it’s purpose at a minimal level. If you have a lot of printing to do look elsewhere. Colors are flat. If it has been inactive for a day or so it shows as ‘offline’ on the network and must be restarted.

Unfortunately I must report the following: slow printing/copying, color is not true to original, color prints/copies with streaks and uneven colors, B&W is streaked with blank lines even following multiple cleanings of print nozzles, duplex printing is not automatic. Ink usage seems to be reasonable, but hard to evaluate as the tanks are 2-year and the printer is less than a year old. Unsatisfactory for church orders of worship and newsletters.

Easy to set up. Only jams when paper is folded or creased or printing double sided when both sides have images. Jams are easy to clear.

While I really like this printer it remains to be seen if the ink will last a year as claimed. I do have one little nit to pick. I don’t like the fact that it seems to be asleep with I boot the system in the morning. It’s very minor….

From a right-now quick print to full document output, everything has met or exceeded my previous experience with another major brand printer. Startup to first-page output time is very fast. None of the time-consuming and wasteful ink purge/clean cycling my other printer used to take several minutes from a cold wake-up before actually delivering the requested page. Text and color are crisp and accurate. No photo printing as yet, but may try that later. Auto feed scanning is a much-needed and welcome feature, simple and effective. I have yet to judge the ink capacity, still almost full from 3 months of light use, but it looks as though it will run a long time before a refill. The only feature I miss having is the ability to print on printable discs (DVD media) would be a welcome feature add-on in future models

Took me a bit to get it set up, as I had conflicting instructions on what to do. I appreciated being able to call tech support. Now that I have it set up it’s working well. I use the copy, print, and scan functions, do not have fax set up. I love that the cartridges are lasting a long time! I’ve been using it for a few months now (probably around 150 pages/month), and the ink levels have hardly changed. I would have had to replace cartridges on my old printer a few times by now.
