We bought this printer scanner in the beginning of lockdown. It has helped to work from home and printing school work for kids. Pros 1. Rightly priced 2. Multi page scanner 3. Print from Laptop and mobile phone Cons 1. Print quality is not sharp. Need to check is it because of paper quality 2. Printing from phone doesn’t print page in correct sequence

Nothing but printing problems since bought it. Prints 2 pages and then get “unable to print 35” error message with paper stuck in machine. Does not print on cardstock either. Noisy

I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. Overall unpacking was very easy (I was actually surprised by it`s compact size expecting a much bigger printer/scanner) and so was the assembly (nothing to assemble!) which really all it was following the instructions in the quick guide included in the box. Installing the ink cartridges was really easy, as well as connecting the AC power adapter, and the wifi setup was also very simple and easy. I was up and printing within 10 minutes. Also I was able to install the software easily for my MAC operating system easily as well so that was great. Score: AFor an “all-in-one” it`s a rather fast and effective printer. Also I love that it has the feature to print front/back and you can auto pre-select that option before printing thus saving more paper. I checked the printer levels today after using the printer for over 2+ wks now and having printed 10 pages/day or so and was surprised to see that the ink levels have barely moved from the top. I`m impressed that ink levels are still at nearly 90%!! This means that the claim that cartridges should last a year does seem true at least from my experience so far and of course everyone`s experience will be different. Also copying multiple pages using the automatic document feeder is easy for printing (but can be complex for scanning which I`ll touch on below). Printing/copying+ink=A++Wi-fi setup and printing from iphone is a breeze. Similarly once the printer is setup to your wireless router and any mobile device can detect the printer on the network then you`re able to very easily print from your mobile device. I use this a lot because if I receive an email and don`t want to turn on my laptop then this works very effectively for me as I can easily just print from my phone. Wifi=A+Other great features: include the simple-to-use touchscreen that is small, but still makes it easy to navigate through. Also there are “apps” which you can choose to install ranging from templates for print, i,e. Forms, to support for cloud services like Google Drive, Dropbox, etc. It also comes with two slots for USB flash drives and MicroSD cards which i don`t have much need for, but I`m sure is a huge plus for people that love to print pictures, for example, or save documents on USB drives. The Brother all-in-one also doubles up as Fax machine if needed. “A” mainly for addition of apps and ease-of-use like being able to create “shortcuts” on touchscreen for frequent uses/commands. While I pretty much love/like most of the features I`ve been using on a daily basis scanning has been frustrating to use. Don`t get me wrong: its scanning capabilities are actually pretty good and the MAC Brother iPrint&Scan software you have to install to be able to perform/scan more difficult, long, or complex documents/photos etc works well enough and will do for most users. From past all-in-ones I`ve had I would say it`s on par with others. So you should be able to do most scanning rather easily depending on the size/length of the documents you are scanning – say any document that is one page up to 10-20 pages in length then it`s easy for that. Longer documents though could make it a bit more complex because I`ve yet to be able to figure out if the scanner can scan double-sided documents and sadly I don`t think it can. Secondly the most annoying/frustrating thing is the fact that you have to insert the documents face down into the automatic document feeder (ADF). Perhaps for some people this isn`t a huge issue and merely an annoyance and/or some are used to that anyways, but I`m used to always inserting documents for printing/scanning face/up rather than face-down. That said though the ADF works, really, really well! I`m not worried it will die out on me in a year or two even! Score of B here since scanning will take some time getting used to. Overall score I would give it is an “A”. It`s absolutely worth the investment +I`ve already seen that with how much $/time/space this Brother MFC will be saving me over next 2+yrs!

I upgraded from an older brother inkjet and this model has the latest technology advances in printers including increased ink capacity.

I would give it 5 stars, however it will not print labels Avery Labels. I tried the recommended process of manual feeding but with no luck. Maybe it’s the labels I’m using.
Roel Stehr (verified owner) –
It performs very well and it was relatively easy to set up following directions. I didn’t give it 5 stars because when it is printing, it is very loud and sounds like it could use some lubrication. It has beautiful color and paper doesn’t got jammed, like my old printer.

Everything is going very well.we have no complaints. Can’t wait to try printing pictures with it.

The MCF-J995DW is a great addition to my home office. The print speed is adequate for small print jobs. I like the scanning capability and associated scanning software. Just wish it had two side scanning.
Ernestina Grady (verified owner) –
Overall, very satisfied. Quality of print could be improved even with a settings from Norma to better.

My third one across many years. Always reliable, always high quality, always reasonable price. Nice.

Purchase was for home office, mainly for check printing. Thus far, I’ve only had one instance with checks misfeeding, although I do not simply place the checks in the paper tray. I always filter through check by check and slightly bow each page to prevent misfeeds (life lesson). The only other issue that I have is the difficulty with the by-pass feeder actually printing on the envelope that I feed through. I purchased this unit so that I could print envelopes without needing to reload the main tray. I feed it through, but nothing prints. Maybe one day I will have time to read up and see what the problem is.

I wanted high quality printing, scanning, and faxing. When my old printer bit the dust suddenly, after a long period of patchy printing and suboptimal scanning, I needed a reliable machine for my home business. My son can’t say enough great things about his Brother printer. I looked at all multifunctional machines out there, checked reviews and features, bought the MFC-J995DW and it delivers! Within a couple of hours I was printing, signing and scanning high quality documents. It’s not too heavy, and is much faster than I expected. It absolutely delivers the quality I was looking for, is very easy to use, and at a surprisingly great price. I often become frustrated during installation of new hardware, but not this time! What a relief! Thank you Brother!!

The biggest problem I have with this printer is I can’t make greeting cards as the heavier card paper gets jammed repeatedly. I didn’t have this problem with past printers and I’m very disappointed as I use to make all my cards. It’s also noisy but you get used to it. Otherwise it is a good printer.

I really can not complain. Bought it to work from home. Rollers are a lot better than hp models at this time.

I used to have to buy ink on my Kodak printer about every 8 weeks and would have to find the best price. I loved my Kodak printer but I couldn’t find ink anywhere so had to find a new printer. Saw the reviews and the capabilities for this one and have never regretted the purchase decision. I can’t believe how long it was before I had to reorder ink.
