Along with these capabilities, the printer features a two-line monochrome LCD for checking current status and has built-in Wi-Fi connectivity with support for direct mobile printing. Additionally, it has USB 2.0 and Ethernet connections for wired configurations.

The main reason I purchased this printer was to have something that would print from my Android smartphone on remote jobsites where I had no Wi-Fi. In my opinion there are way too many steps involved in using the “Wi-Fi Direct” feature…not to mention the time involved. And…if you don`t do everything exactly right it does not always connect. I`m very dis-satisfied with this purchase…Sorry Brother!

I’m a senior citizen so my initial concerns were installation on my wireless network and paper jams. The installation was clear, simple fast and successful. So far, I have had no paper jams. Scanner works fine; much better than the Dell I replaced. Perfect for me!

Good: the printer is quick and does duplex printing without any jams. It comes with an initial ink cartridge that should last for about 100 – 150 pages. The quality of the printing is very good. Not so good: it causes the lights to dim when it prints (which is kind of an unexpected notification feature). It is noisy especially when it prints duplex. Scan quality is good but not excellent. The manuals and utility software are many and it’s not always clear what their purposes are but the Web based help is pretty good. Overall, an above average all-in-one printer/scanner/fax and a good value for the money.

I had an old inkjet printer that had been in service since 2004. It was expensive to maintain (six ink cartridges!) and finally quit working. Frustrated by expensive ink cartridges, I looked at laser combo units, as I wanted the capability of copy and scanning at home. A friend of mine who is in IT recommended the Brother unit. After a lot of study, I ordered this model. As a teacher, I use it for both personal and business tasks. So far, I am extremely pleased with the printer. I LOVE the wireless printing feature, and it both scans and copies flawlessly. It should save me lots of money, as opposed to an inkjet model. The price I paid wasn’t much more that a high quality inkjet model, and not having color is not a problem for me. I have access to a color laser printer at school if I need color printing. I highly recommend this combo unit and I am very pleased with the purchase. It’s easy to set up too.

I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. We have been impressed from the start with this All-in-One Printer! It is small but very capable of completing all of the tasks we need it to do for us at home, from printing school papers, to scanning important papers for my husband`s job, to making copies. The set up was relatively easy. I had never had experience with using a large toner cartridge, but it went into the unit without a problem. It will be nice that one cartridge can print approximately 1200 pages! There are not a lot of written instructions included, and it took a little bit to understand just how the paper was to be placed in the tray (the back paper guide needs to be all the way back for the paper to feed). We did not need to set it up for a fax machine, because we do not have a landline available, so we skipped that step and went straight to connecting it wirelessly to our desktop computer by using the CD provided. (I did feel that it was helpful that we had some previous experience setting up a wireless printer before, but I think a first time user would also be able to without much problem.) We were impressed that we were also able to quickly print from our mobile phones (both Apple and Android) and it prints so much faster than an ink-jet printer!We have used it to make single and 2 sided copies, as well, with great results.Overall, this is a great machine, and it doesn`t take up a lot of space, which is an added bonus!
