Most of us buy a spare printer cartridge ahead of time to have on hand. I bought the Brother laser printer because it would handle up to 6500 pages. The cost was $173.49 for the extra high yield. Since the printer came with cartridges I figured starters toner might not yield the amount of Super High Yield. A few weeks ago I finally replaced starter with new the TN436C Super High Yield and almost immediately it started to smear with less then 100 pages. I contacted BH Photo and Brother. I sent a report and pages showing smear. I do not blame BH Photo for turning me down on a free replacement but sending Brother all the info including scans of the smeared pages and the log showing 100 pages of use on a 6500 page cartridge I feel they might have considered it. I figured a $173 cartridge kept in the box even though I bought 10 months ago I figured since I bought for future use and I explained the delay in the interest of good customer relations the would send me a free one. Dont get me wrong I understand but they could have received a very positive review instead of a negative one. I felt someone that has 6 Brother products and bought $750 worth of toners and many thousand of dollars on printer would cut a little slack. So my advice DO NOT BUY UNTIL YOU ARE CLOSE TO NEEDING A REPLACEMENT OR IT COULD COST YOU BIG TIME

I purchased the coordinating Brother printer and ancillary toner cartridges approximately 12 months ago from B&H. The printer itself has worked well, with over 7,500 prints to date. In 12-months, have used the original standard toners + 2 rounds of each color of Super High-Yield Toner. As you are likely aware, these are relatively expensive. The most recent (March ’20) Black cartridge began leaking at the halfway usage mark. Powder everywhere inside the printer. While this is only $85 vs. $180 for the color units, this isn’t okay. Wait times for B&H’s Customer Service is currently 42 minutes. Nor is that ideal. Would like an in-store credit for 50% of a replacement cartridge = $42.50.
