I originally purchased the 12.9, 3rd gENERATION and had problems with the left post. I gave up and purchased the high end Apple touch pad. I had a fire with it and Apple returned a new one. I then sent the one for Brydge to my twin brother and he continued with the same problem and it was eventually repaired and repaired until a new one was sent him (I guess i should had kept at it myself). Now I am going to try and buy a new one again. Hopefully I will have no problem with this one.

The Brydge itself seems fine. The dock is well constructed and very solid. Assembly is brain dead simple. It is a little difficult getting the MacBook Pro to slide in and out, but not terrible. What absolutely sucks is how bad the MacBook Pro itself is at docking and recognizing the monitor and posting up and down when connected with the laptop closed. I have a problem with it 2 out of three times I try to use it. So while this product itself is quite nice, it’s effectively barely usable thanks to the horrid Apple software.

This dock works well, but I don’t know if it’s really worth the money. Just a standard holder could do just as well. There are 2 drawbacks with it. First, it doesn’t plug into the sound system, so you have to plug that in separately. Secondly, there are only 2 ports, so you have to get a hub to attach to one of the ports. It looks nice though.

The first dock I received wouldn’t activate the closed laptop. The support was great. They sent me a new immediately. The new one works sometimes. Others it seems to disconnect for no obvious reason. Other times the external drive doesn’t seem to recognize the computer when plugged into dock.

I want to start off by saying that I love my dock. It’s sleek, the aesthetic matches the rest of my peripherals perfectly, and it’s nice to have my laptop take up less space on my desk when docked. However, there is one minor issue, of the actual docking. Almost every time I slide my laptop into the dock, it takes a minute or two of adjusting to get the ports lined up. I was under the impression that the housing would guide the laptop properly, this is not the case. Maybe one or two times in my few weeks of using the dock it’s lined up perfectly, but it is a bit frustrating the rest of the time. I wish it were a little better in that one area, but otherwise it does it’s job wonderfully, and I would whole-heartedly recommend it to anyone with a MacBook Pro and external monitor.

This device isn’t as smooth at seating my laptop as I had hoped. It’s not really a docking station as it doesn’t add ports but simply passes through the two ports on the laptop. It’s really an expensive way to save desk space.

After receiving it today. however, I have to say that despite the frustration, this is a superior product to the last 2 Henge Docks vertical docks I’ve had. Way to go Brydge. You make a great product.

I love the new Brydge Docks! I’ve had Henge Docks in the past and I liked them, but Brydge has taken it further and developed a solid product! The base is heavy enough that it stays in place when inserting or removing my MacBook Pro and the ports line up perfectly! Honestly, this is a great product and a must for everyone!
