The DVI Male To VGA HD15 Female Video Adapter from C2G is the standard interface for high-performance connection between PCs and flat panel displays, CRT displays, projectors and HDTV. This video adapter is fully compliant with the DVI standard defined by DDWG (Digital Display Working Group). The DVI-I configuration adapts an existing VGA cable for use with a DVI-I device*. Maximum UXGA resolution is 1600 x 1200p. Gold-plated contacts provide full conductivity with no data loss. A PC and Mac compatible cable supports hot-plugging of DVI display devices.

We recently upgraded all the workstations to new i7 based desktops that support dual monitors running Windows 7. We reused the original analog flat screens along with new DVI based wide screens. the adapters let us connect the old analog monitors to the Y cable supplied with the desktops to create a dual screen environment.

The application was to be able to use one of the dual DVI outputs from a new computer to supply video output to a projector which only accepts VGA or RCA input. It does not work. There must be a signal converter used to change it from Digital to Analog. This information needs to be included with the product information. So that shoppers do not assume it will work without the converter.
