Connect a variety of Thunderbolt 3, USB 3.1 Type-C, USB 3.0 Type-C, USB 3.0 Type-A, DisplayPort 1.2, Gigabit Ethernet, S/PDIF audio, 3.5mm audio, and SDXC UHS-II peripherals to your compatible system using the space gray TS3 Plus 15-Port Thunderbolt 3 Dock from CalDigit. This dock contains two bi-directional 40 Gb/s Thunderbolt 3 ports, each of which utilizes the reversible USB Type-C connector and also supports 10 Gb/s USB 3.1 and dual-bandwidth DisplayPort 1.2, allowing you to connect up to two 4K/60 Hz displays simultaneously, or one 5K Thunderbolt 3 display. Additionally, you can daisy-chain up to six total devices from a single Thunderbolt 3 port. As one Thunderbolt 3 port is used to interface with your host system, the other is used for daisy chaining.
In addition to its Thunderbolt 3 ports, this dock also has one 10 Gb/s USB 3.1 Type-C port, which is also known as USB 3.1 Gen 2, as well as one 5 Gb/s USB 3.0 Type-C port, which is also known as USB 3.1 Gen 1. To maintain compatibility with legacy devices, this dock also has five 5 Gb/s USB 3.0 Type-A ports. The DisplayPort allows for a 4K or 5K monitor to be connected, while the 3.5mm audio ports allow external speakers, mics, and other audio equipment to be connected. Pro-grade digital audio output for a lossless signal transfer is accomplished using the S/PDIF output, network connectivity is achieved using the Gigabit Ethernet port, and the integrated SDXC UHS-II card reader lets you download photos and videos from your digital camera or other device. Additionally, a power cable and a 2.3′ Thunderbolt 3 cable are included.

Does everything it’s advertised to do and more. It will also connect to older Mac desktops and Macbooks with a Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter (Apple product), allowing the TS3 to provide basically the same functionality to older Macs. Solidly built product and surprisingly tiny for having so many connections. Solid connections too I might add. No loose USB connections on this device. Wicked addition to M1 Mac Mini as well. Well done CalDigit!

I bought a 2021 MacBook Pro. The 14 variety. Love that it brought back the HDMI, MagSafe and SD slot but I was still looking for a solution for all my USB connections. In my home office I have a label printer, printer, web cam, and document scanner that all use regular USB connections. This device makes it super easy to just have a single connection connect to everything. I haven’t utilized the display function yet but plan to test in the near future. I’m currently rocking a 49 curved Samsung display so I’m hoping the TS3 can handle it. I’m basically using it as a glorified USB hub right now. and I can confirm it works great for that. My cable management is way better now. I only wish the 14 MBP would take power via the USB-C connection so I could get rid of another cord.

I purchased this dock because my new laptop has only 2 included USB ports, which is way too few for the external devices i regularly use. I was hoping to connect all my external devices through the CalDigit. The ratings were very good, and, in general, this seems like a versatile dock. I have not tried external monitors. It seems to work well with external USB disk drives and USB sticks. The analog audio out is also working well for me. However, when I connected an iFi iDSD micro, which is a high end USB audio DAC, I had issues. While my computer recognized the device right away and connected to its driver, for some reason I get continuous static in the audio when I use the type A USB ports. I even exchanged for a new unit, and the new unit had the same issue. I did get it to work by using an Apple USB C to USB adapter and using the rear USB C port of the CalDigit. I read that this port is handled internally by a different chip. For some reason, that chip handles the iFi fine, but the other USB chip does not. I also tried connecting my powered USB hub into a USB A port on the CalDigit. The hub has many low speed devices such as mouse, keyboard, and printers. Unfortunately, I had weird problems with the keyboard no matter what I tried. I finally had to plug the USB hub into one of the 2 ports on the computer. Again, it seems like the CalDigit USB chip cannot handle an external USB hub. So, all in all, I have been able to work around the limitations to make the TS3 Plus satisfy my needs. However, I was disappointed that the USB A ports, at least, seem to have clear limitations. Anyone considering the CalDigit TS3 Plus should keep that in mind. This is a fairly expensive device that supposedly has higher end circuits inside to make sure it can handle a variety of devices and to insure that the bandwidth of the Thunderbolt port is effectively shared. Nevertheless, one cannot count on the ports acting entirely the same as direct ports on the attached computer. CalDigit was responsive. They said they could not guarantee than it would handle a USB hub, or a high end audio device. They did provide a replacement unit under warranty, but, as I noted, it had the same issues. They had warned me that might be the case. I just wish I had known these limitations before I made the purchase.

It is the second product I purchased from CalDigit, and can say their quality is very good! Works well with both Macbook Air 2020 (Intel) as well as Lenovo ThinkPad X1 6th Gen.

Needed this in order to get more function out of my older 2013 Macbook Pro while working from home. The harddrives work fine through this hub, as does the network connection, but when I connected a new monitor through the display port, it lags when doing light motion gfx work. It’s causing the video to get stuck, while the audio keeps playing normally. Maybe there’s some magical settings setup between the monitor, my laptop, and settings in After Effects? However, after an hour or so of trying different setups, I could not resolve it. Using the display port for other functions worked fine, so if you’re not needing to extend an After Effects or Premeire workflow, you might be fine. My resolve was to use the hdmi port on laptop bypassing the hub, and it works as expected now.

This hub has every kind of port and card reader that you would ever need. It is the top rated hub in many reviews and on many online shopping platforms. My only caveat is that while the hub itself is very compact the power brick that comes with it is not. You will need to allow extra space on your desktop for the power supply but this hub is worth it.

I’ve used these a few time, really good thunderbolt doc with a lot of IO. Works setting up 2 external displays at 4k if your computer supports it, if you go HDMI you do need a high quality USB-c to HDMI converter, otherwise things work as expected

This dock fits well placed horizontally under the screen of a 2020 iMac with 27 display. It integrates appropriately with OS 10.15.6, effectively adding one high-speed pone slower Thunderbolt 3 ports, a video monitor port, and a handful of USB-3 ports. It also makes audio I/O ports (analog and optical) and camera card port more accessible. Front panel ports for thumb drives. The external power supply is adequate. The manual required a download and a firmware update was called for. Powers up with the computer. Pricey, but effective and compact.

Had a TB2 Dock from OWC, it was ok until I had many issues with it. Saw a review for the CalDigit and since I was upgrading my MacBook Pro anyway, the OLD OWC had to go. WOW!!! This CalDigit is amazing, nicely made, I like how it comes with a TB Cable. Lot’s of ports, very efficient. Fast Card Reader, no drop out or stutters from the Ethernet Port while working in video compared to there docks. Highly recommend!

Works great – I am finally able to use my external monitor, external hard drive(s), charge my device, etc. at once.

Works great. The hub I had before was buggy, and certain peripherals would just not work, and require repeated unplugging/replugging. This one has been flawless so far.

I have owned a couple of passive docking stations and always had connection issues. This thing works flawlessly. 15 ports, UHS-ii card reader, thunderbolt. It has it all. Favorite feature is that it powers my Mac and runs everything I need with one thunderbolt cable. I do wish it had a HDMI instead of display port but being an Apple owner I guess we expect to use dongles. Ha!

I read many reviews and watched hours of YouTube videos trying to decided on a dock for my new Mac mini that would have thunderbolt, SD card reader and plenty of places to plug in my external SSD drives for my Lightroom workflow and a bunch of other peripherals. I finally decided to spend the extra money on the Caldigit TS3 Plus 15 port dock. The size is perfect and so far everything is running smoothly so enough said I don’t want to jinx it.

This unit is great because it allows my Mac Pro to be out of arms reach. Plenty of connections to exchange data back and forth. Its power makes for powering my iPad and iPhone without numerous power supplies, leave them in your bag. However, she does heat up and the best position is the vertical as pictured. That allows for superior heat dissipation.
