The Calphalon Contemporary Self-Sharpening 20-Piece Cutlery Set with SharpIN Technology features a block with built-in sharpeners that automatically sharpen straight edge knives with every use. Knives are crafted from premium materials with a fully forged blade, bolster and tang, and use high-carbon, no-stain German steel for life-long durability. Contoured handles are comfortably balanced and labeled on the end so you can pull the correct knife out of the block every time.

I bought these knives because I love anything to do with Calphalon, but you need to make the steak knives straight edge with self-sharpening, because the steak knives don’t cut very good. Other than that they are the best knives in the world.

My husband and I have been in a good set of knives for awhile now and we tried the German knives that are supposed to be “tops”. Wrong, we took them back two days after trying them. This set is beyond the doubt, the best we could ever think of getting. Perfect and I love what they are printed on the end of them to keep from guessing which is which. Couldn’t be happier with my purchase. Knives are well sharpened, have excellent balance, and the self-sharpening feature seems to work just fine. Time will tell, of course, whether this feature can keep up with ordinary daily use, but my guess is it will keep the knives in tip top shape. This set is beautiful and looks impressive on the counter. Nice to have a sharp knife each and every time. One thing I wish was that the knives weren’t labeled. I don’t think it looks professional. A laminated cheat sheet to slip in a drawer or under a cutting board would work, and after a short while you would know where each knife went. Other than that they seem to be well worth the money.

I bought this set 7 or 8 yrs ago. I use the 8in chefs knife all the time. I had dropped it on the floor and it broke. I called Calphalon and they sent me a new one all I had to do was take a picture of it with my phone. A yr or so later I dropped one of the pairing knives and it broke. They checked the serial numbers on the others and I had to send 8 of the knives back because they were under a recall, they sent me brand new knives back. This knife set is fantastic, will not use anything else. Thank you for a great knife set and a fantastic warranty. After I use them, they are washed by hand, dried by hand and put back in the butcher block

Having the names of the knives on the ends of the handles eliminates some aggravation — a lot of visitors who notice that comment on how much they like that feature. Go for it!
