Lucia Pro is a nice ink system. By far the color that runs fastest is the Chroma Optimizer, roughly three times as fast as the next one in the list of colors that run fast, which for me was Photo Black (then closely followed by Gray). The subsequent colors to run fast depend more strongly on what you are printing. I was doing a lot of greens, so I had the Yellow and Blue run faster than the other colors.

You don’t have another choice. You bought a photo printer- this is what you feed it for those awesome pics. 3rd party inks don’t save much and aren’t worth the hassle.

What can one say about an ink pack? It works, but Canon now packs a little less ink in some of the tanks. (I measured since I started to notice immediate changes in the ink levels – about 1/10 of an oz less per tank in the latest batch.) B&H keeps the price the same as Canon (expensive, but some other folks charge retail ++). Not much choice when using a higher end pigment printer.

This was my first time reloading the inks and I’m thrilled that once these were installed, the system allowed me a dozen prints showing NO movement in the levels of the ink, since there was obviously plenty of ink in the system overall already. Unlike the first usage when it was new it immediately showed only half full. NOW with the reloading of these it maintains a much higher level. Unlike many folks I turn my printer OFF when not in use. It uses less test ink preparing the system for print contrary to some reviewers.

Great ink tank, for many purposes

While the Canon inks are quite over-priced (by Cannon), they work well and the printer handles them nicely. I’ve tried refills and find they tend to clog heads (although the color is good with them). I stick with manufacturers brand simply because it treats the printer kindly.

The only thing that actually works in the Canon Imageprograf-1000. (I’ve tried the re-fills & off-brand, they tend to hurt the printer.) Canon keeps the price far to high. It works & makes good prints.

The color from my Canon Pro 1000 is amazing. I have to buy ink more often than I would like, but the results are justified in my opinion.

No matter what the paper is….Canon or Red River, I always get wonderful results from my printer with Canon ink. It is so easy to get a real, professional photo at home for me or actual customer. Had to get individual tanks this time because the ink set is unavailable at this time.

Love my printer – the ink is expensive.

Great Paper

I am getting great reviews for the color quality of the prints. I haven’t used the replacement inks yet. Why run out? Yes, more expensive than the smaller inks I have in the Pixma (8.5×11), but, what would one expect when the quality is much better. I haven’t started on the black and white printing just yet.

Canon products are the best. This ink is no exception. Don’t waste your time with 3rd party inks trying to save some money. Quality is not the same as the original.

Only ink I will use in my Canon Pro 1000

The Canon Lucia Pro ink is pigment based instead of the much more common dye based inks. The pigment meets museum archival standards and lays on the paper with more density and less spreading than thinner inks thus preserving details. The 80ml capsules last a long time, reducing overall cost. Highly recommended.
