This is, as one would expect from the name, a very bright white paper. It also has a nice, fairly heavy feel and a bit of texture. I recently used it for a 24 x 36 print that needed a bright matte paper. I plan to add the natural version of this paper to my inventory for prints that don’t require bright white. I was very happy with the results once I figured out which ICC profile and printer settings I needed. Canon lists mutually exclusive printer/control panel settings for this paper and they are not clearly identified. Their web site is a bit of a mess when it comes to color management using their papers. Fortunately, results are excellent once you get it sorted out. Detailed printing records are required.

The paper prints great bright vivid images for a matte paper. The reason I rate it as a 2 is because it is very stiff and it is a pain to get the curl out and have flat prints for mounting. I have observed print head rubbing because of the paper not feeding flat because it is thick and wants to curl during the feed. Probably because the paper roll core is 2 inches. A 3 inch core for this paper would be better in my opinion.

This is my go-to choice for fine art smooth matte paper when I need bright white. The Canon profiles for this paper are good but images with a lot of ink can be challenging to print. You really need to hard-proof images with high ink density. I also use Canon Fine Art Natural (Matte 230 gsm) for images where less brightness is required. I occasionally use the heavier Fine Art Bright White version and Hanemuhle’s Photo Rag 308 but the additional cost doesn’t seem to include a commensurate quality gain. The paper curl with this paper is annoying but manageable. I print more often on photographic papers but this is a good choice when a smooth matte paper is called for.

A sample of this paper came with the printer. We liked it and are now buying a replacement roll.

love the bright white of the paper like it better than enhanced matte
