Canon SG-201 Photo Paper Plus Semi-Gloss (17 x 22″, 25 Sheets) is calibrated to the Pro-1000 Canon Printer by the paper number of SG-201. So manual calibration is not a necessary thing to do. I do calibrate with my x-rite colormonki as a check and see no difference.

I’ll be honest and start by saying that we like this paper when used with the canon printer we bought from B&H. I think in some reviews the Luster paper was highly recommended and we have yet to try that, so frankly there may be better paper options out there than this Semi-Gloss but so far, the prints we’ve gotten with it have been very good. Color, contrast, and details all appear to be just fine and really there’s not much to complain about. I think like many things, if you can test out different types of paper and find what you like the best, that’s probably a good idea, but this paper should work well for many people.

I got this paper for free with my Canon Pixma Pro 10 so along with the five 8.5×11 luster sheets that come with the printer I have not had much experience with other Canon photo papers. That being said I do have a bit of experience with photo papers (mostly Epson) and this paper gave me results that stand up to other papers. I would describe it as a mix between glossy and mat with a slight hint of a luster look (very slight). This paper is great overall and will give you some great final prints but it is also a good starting point for drafts and helping you decide if you want to use another paper.
