The CLI-221 Magenta Ink Tank from Canon is part of the ChromaLife100+ system which combines FINE print head technology with Canon ink and photo paper to print borderless photos that have been tested to last up to 300 years when stored in an archival-quality photo album. I would recommend buying this product over the third party substitutions that you can buy for half the price. The colors are much better than third party products and I have never had any problems with the printer recognizing the ink levels left in the cartridge unlike other brands.

I’ve tried the generics and refills and they just don’t compare to the name brand cartridges. Unfortunately they are still relatively expensive considering how often the need to be replaced.

color looks great, but ink doesn’t last long. of course that’s the printer’s fault, not the cartridge. seems like the Canon MP640 is designed to use these cartridges up as quickly as possible… ideally I’d prefer larger cartridges so replacement is less frequent.
