Worked alright for a time – nothing exceptionally good or bad, just a standard printer. The scanner worked well when scanning a couple hundred old family photos. The printer would be unavailable to the network occasionally and would need to be restarted – but generally printed well. Then, after just under 8 months we woke up to a burning smell. The top of the printer (back right corner) had exploded – burning a hole an inch in diameter through the top cover and throwing molten plastic up and on to a desk a few inches above it.

I bought one of these a couple of years ago. Nothing but trouble. I’m going back to an HP.

The TR 4520 prints very well. We also tried to print on photo paper with excellent results. When it is operating it is kind of clunky and noisy but it does the job. The ink cartridges are pretty small especially the color with all three colors in one cartridge. I researched many printers and I really wanted one with built-in tanks but I have to tell you they’re going to get you on the ink one way or the other. You either pay upfront for the mega tank type printers ($400 on up) or when you buy replacement cartridges for the less expensive printers. It works great with my iPad and phone, connectivity is excellent. It doesn’t have the fancy color screen or monitor on it but do you really need it? It works as advertised and I would recommend it to anyone who doesn’t need to print a lot.

I love this printer. It prints double sided and its so cool! It also faxes, scans and copies!

I previously had a Canon All In One 7720 printer that lasted 4 good years so I decided to purchase a similar Canon. This printer has several design features that I do not like. First of all, it feels cheap and is made of cheap plastic. Unlike my last one, the controls sit on TOP of the printer facing the ceiling. My printer sits on a shelf about 5′ high, but when I stand (6′ tall) it is impossible to see the control board or messages. This printer is designed to sit on a table so it can be looked down on. Next, when loading the paper, I was struggling to close the cover. Then I realized that the cover cannot close with the paper in the cartridge. The paper sticks halfway out of the printer at all times. To close the cover you must remove the paper. I tried to set it up, but must use a stepstool to read the control panel. That was enough for me to send it back for something different. The design is poor.

Software does not operate as defined in the manual. The printer display on the machine is awkward small and dark The user interface doesn’t seem to connect with the printer The time from request to print out is very slow The print from one computer can be good but from another computer is can be misaligned

prints fine, but it doesnt pickup paper like it should. I have to push next sheet in sometimes

Setup of my new printer was super simple. I was ready to hit print within 5 minutes. The print quality is also nice and I’ve noticed the canon ink cartridge replacements are also far less expensive than HP. However, the print time for a simple black and white document is far longer than any other printer I’ve ever owned. And the paper storage seems odd to me (no paper can be stored in the printer if you’d like to close the front) but overall a decent deal for such a low price point!

The WiFi feature does not work all the time. The printer generates errors galore even when connected with a cable. This is the worst printer I have ever had in my life! I would have never thought that Canon will create such a piece of garbage.
Urban Friesen (verified owner) –
Difficult to set up. too many steps to set that horrible piece of garbage up. although it i wirelessly connected to my Mac, i cannot scan scan anything to the Computer. i waste so much time.

I am not exaggerating when I say we printed 10 pieces of paper (basic text printing) before the ink ran out on both the black and color cartridges…and we hadn’t even used the color! Since we’ve replaced and had to continue to replace every couple of weeks. We are very light users of this printer (5 pages per week MAX!) We had a similar white pixma printer that did the same but we thought we got a “lemon”. Stay away from these. Compatible ink cartridges are ALWAYS on backorder through canon, too and you can’t find them elsewhere because they are sold out!

I love this printer. Very easy to set it up. Can print from iphone, ipad, laptop as well as from desktop computer. Very happy with this purchase.

Purchased this a month ago. As a wireless printer – it never connects to the network. Getting it to print is less than a 50-50 shot. Usually need to power it up and down a few times as well as the laptop until it will print. I’ve had many other wireless Cannon printers and never this type of issue.

I’m fairly “tech-savvy” and I’ve given this thing hours of my life. Do not be fooled by the “easy to use” features. It has terrible connection issues, and is in no way user friendly. The app is also just filled with ads which is frustrating. Wish I could return it.

Constant problems printing between I-Mac and Pixma TR4520.
Devan Bernhard (verified owner) –
This printer is slow and finding ink cartridges is virtually impossible. Then, when I did find the cartridges, they did not work – even though I purchased the recommended cartridges.
Laisha Connelly (verified owner) –
Good printer but wow I got to print like 10 pages! Thanks Canon for the empty cartridges! Hope you read this and make me whole.

Had mine for almost 2 years, and i am super happy with it!

Works well, inexpensive, uses ink like a horse drinks water.

I needed to replace Canon all-in-one after many years. The printer/copier kept getting jammed but the scanner worked solid. It just got to the point where I was printing with my portable printer, scanning with the older Canon and having to take a trip to Staples to copy anything. So like a true Canon fan, I got this one. I wanted this is be the one. The printing and copying is a bit loud (it rocks back and forth) but that is not much of an issue for me. Sometimes you have to reconnect the printer despite it being connected to the computer. It appears to be on an automatic 2 Sided setting so always check before you press print. The biggest down? The scanner. Every Black and White document I’ve scanned looks like I’m using an old fax machine. It’s grey. There are lines running through the documents. So far, no one I’ve been needing to send documents to has complained but it is really bad. Scanning photos however not that bad. I’ve kept it only because I need something that functions enough for me to work but quality wise, wow Canon. You really going to have me consider Epson after all these years? If you will be using you all-in-one to scan, do not buy this one.
