For the price, it’s not terrible quality, but I’m disappointed that this printer consistently turns itself off after a period. So … every time I try to print, I get a signal that the printer is off line. That’s only a minor inconvenience when I’m at the desk next to it. If I’m printing remotely from another machine, it’s a pain. Also, the scanner has some wonki-ness to it. When I try to scan, the screen pops up with a message to set the computer to scan — but try as I might, I cannot find a setting to scan from my desktop. Not in settings, not in the printer itself, nowhere! The third demerit on this printer is a very small paper tray. I’ve got this one now and have bought the ink, so I’ll keep using it for a while, but will definitely choose something else next time. My previous printer was a pixma 920, and I loved it until it died. Unfortunately it was not available at the time I needed to replace it.

This is my second Canon printer the other being a MX922. The 922 is limited by paper size and thickness, no rear feed. I was hoping that the TS9520 would completely replace the 922, however, due to some of its limitations it did not. The biggest issue is scanning, the 9520 can not scan a photo album because not all of the scanner lid lifts up, the right side containing the ADC stays put which prevents scanning part of a large page. Lastly Color Options have been removed from the print dialog box/menu, which means you can’t make minor changes if the print is not quite right. Build quality is good but it has been manufactured very inexpensively compared to the 922 which is very well made. This sounds like a lot of negative feedback, however, for what it is made for it works very well. It is made for home use and when used in that capacity I believe it will hold up well and give good service. When using Canon’s Easy-PhotoPrint Editor the photos come out great and it is a fairly versatile program. Printing from other software will take some extra manipulation so they will print as you think they should. All in all a very capable do everything printer.

Printer was fine, although the ink is expensive compared to past Canon printers. Seems quality is degrading as well. Printer corrupts any file printed as text. If I print as a picture it looks perfect. That’s coming from different programs (Word, Excel, InDesign). Seems a firmware problem, though it’s current.

Slow printing, especially on two-sided printing. Good print quality. Noisy. Uses ink rapidly, shows refilled cartridges as empty so can not determine when they are actually out of ink. Forced to purchase new rather than refill. Expensive and better to re-use compared to being wasteful. Doesn’t seem to have the quality as previous Canon printers.

Easy to set up and easy to connect to our multiple computers. However, the paper tray is far too small, and needs to be restocked constantly. Also, the printer will automatically turn off if left alone too long. This may or may not be good for you, but it was not helpful to us. Fortunately, it was pretty easy to get into the settings and turn it off (or set it to whatever time period you want). I’d give it 4.5 stars if I could.

The photo output is rather good, if you can somehow get this thing to print. The software is so bad that the printer is unuseable. Run Away!

I have had Canon printers forever. They tend to last forever. This one was much easier to set up than the ones I have had in the past and very simple to operate.

This printer is designed to maximize value, flexibility, and portability of the light duty enthusiast user, who might also be using an android tablet or iphone as their primary interface. Someone who might print out a few photos and/or a few hundred pages every few weeks and who does not want a professional business or photo printer. For these needs, the printer is ideal but comes at the cost of somewhat flimsy construction, just barely acceptable professional printing quality, and paying extra for modest ink refills. However, if well cared for and operating prudently, it should last 3-5yrs and still be cheaper and take up less space than competitors. Personally, I’d be willing to pay more for better construction, but at the price and with a cheap support contract that will replace the unit if defects develop..whatever concerns I have are addressed.

Paper jams as often as not. I do not recommend.

So I am a Canon user with numerous cameras and lenses and two Canon Pixma Pro photo printers. I love Canon overall. However, I am in complete regret buying this printer. I switched from an HP multifunction to this for my office and although print quality is good. I waste a ton of time and paper trying to figure it out every time I have to do something other than a normal sheet of paper. Manual feed system is marked completely wrong and is a disaster. Does not recognize paper types properly and requires way more interaction. Very disappointing and wish I could go backwards.

We purchased this printer to replace your MX880. I couldn’t find a new 880 and no self service customer assistance. Wish I had my 880 back. Operational buttons inconvenient location and confusing. The front panel requires manual intervention to close after printing. Scanning feature to confusing to complete. Copies are great but getting there and back not so easy.

We had an older printer that neither my wife or myself had used in about a year before using the PIXMA TS9520. We were drawn to this model due to its multiple features from everyday use of printing normal documents for work or home life, as well as the opportunity to use some of the DIY features. The printer itself was very easy to install and it doesn’t take up too much space on our desk in our den. Since it had been a few years since I installed a printer, I was satisfied with the directions and process for getting our printer up and running. Immediately I noticed how seamless it was to print documents at a high quality, and it is almost like having an industrial quality printer in my home. My favorite feature is how you can print documents directly from your iPhone such as boarding passes! The ability to print over Wifi is so convenient and simple. My wife’s favorite feature is the ability to do more than print plain documents but put together high quality documents like posters or schedules. This printer definitely meets all of our expectations and I would highly recommend it for anyone interested in the basics or for anyone printing a wide range of items.

Plus: I stick with Canon printers and inks due to good results. This machine scans and prints quickly and well. It’s my first home printer to print on 11″ x 17″ paper (I do CAD) and 12″ x 12″ (my wife does scrapbooks). Wireless connection works well once I figured out how set it up. Hopefully the machine stays supported and outlasts my ink inventory, as my last two Canon printers didn’t. Minus: The machine feels flimsy, especially rear feed and discharge trays. I’ve already had trouble storing rear feed. Very limited flatbed scanner book thickness. Autostart hasn’t worked so far. No instructions for wireless LAN connection via router. I wish oddball paper sizes like 4″ x 8″ could be used. I also wish the flatbed scanner were 4800 x 2400 like many others.

GREAT PRINTER. LOVE THAT THEY SENT A DISK TO LOAD ON COMPUTER. MADE LIFE EASIER TO SET UP. ONLY USED IT FEW TIMES, LITTLE INTIMIDATING. WISH IT CAME WITH BOOKLET OF ALL THINGS THAT YOU CAN DO WITH IT. WOULD MAKE IT A LITTLE EASIER TO USE. BUILT A LITTLE CHEAPER THAN MY LAST CANNON PRINTER.

One should know that in inputs are different and the operator needs to tell the printer what type of paper, the size, and whether the paper is in the front or back tray. Take your time learning how to use this and it performs wonderfully.

This a cost effective and space saving way to be able to print 11 x 17 photo color prints for the casual user. Great quality, simple to setup and a real space saver over the competition. On top of all the you get CANON quality.

Last week, I had to replace a 2+ year-old Canon PIXMA MX6800 last week and decided to try something different. I purchased a Brother MFC-J775 wireless all-in-one for $199+, and after several hours–over a 4-day period–of trying to get it setup to work on our macs and iPhones, I gave up and returned it. I brought this TS9520 home and in less than 10 minutes had it setup and ready for use across all of our devices. Thank you, Canon, for making setup simple. I will gladly give you my money for all of my printing needs for life.

I really do love this printer. I love the quality of the pictures when you print on it. I use it to make calender’s, magnets, things for work, for kids school. I do have to say I did go through ink fast otherwise it is amazing. So simply to hook phone up to it.
