With a soft luster finish, this Photo Paper Pro Luster from Canon, available here as a 25-pack of 17 x 22″ sheets, will provide a slightly textured surface that resists both glare and fingerprints while offering great color saturation and contrast. Used with a Canon Pixma Pro-100. Colors are reproduced accurately and the contrast is good. The paper is thick enough to mostly resist curl. I like the level of sheen and the surface texture. I prefer this paper to the Canon semi-gloss. So far, i have been pleased with this purchase and intend to buy the 13×19 version when I have used the rest of my semi-gloss. I have not used this paper long enough to comment on fading.

For my Canon Pro9000 Mark II, I have used a number of papers from varying companies, but have found that Canon Pro Luster produces the most accurate colors and tonal range, as well as excellent sharpness and detail. I use the Canon profiles and find a very close match with my calibrated Dell monitor. The only paper that produces even better color depth and detail is Canon Pro Platinum. But the Pro Platinum is a high gloss paper.

I use this paper to print photographs on a Canon Pixma Pro-10. I love the finish on this paper as it feels very traditional, like what I remember getting prints from the photo lab felt like. I wish it was perhaps slightly heavier in weight, but it has nice heft and susbtance to it, so a print feels like it has value. You can only print on one side of this paper. The ink will not cook into the non-coated side and you will have a drippy mess. Setting the paper type in the print dialogue is critical to avoid this if you are using another type of paper. Just pay attention and it will be fine. I love the ink coverage on this paper, and the dry time is nearly instantaneous. The semi-gloss sheen makes a photo feel special, but not overly slick. It’s just about perfect as far as gloss goes.

I like this paper better than the Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy II that I’d been using before. I think it has just the right sheen to it. Print quality is excellent. I have a Canon Pro 9000 Mark II printer which is a terrific photo printer (even if it is an older model) and has the profiles for this paper included in the driver. But I think any printer will yield great results on this paper. Incidentally, though I’m an amateur, I do have a Spyder and have my monitor properly calibrated with it. As others have noted, the colors can be a little less vivid on this paper compared to the PP Glossy II paper I was using before. But it seems to vary from print to print in my brief experience. The colors on the first print I did with this paper looked a little muted compared to the same image on PP Glossy II. But the second print I did yesterday came out better in terms of saturation. There was a lot of pink in the second image which I expected to come out on the pale side, but it came out just right. Anyway, I recommend this paper. I bought a pack of 8.5×11 and haven’t touched the Glossy stuff since I got it.

Normally I prefer high gloss papers and was not thrilled that the package contained luster paper. After trying it for a large format portrait, I was very happy I had to use it. I will definately use this type of paper in the future.

There is definitely some bronzing and paper must be handled carefully as inks are easily wiped off with hands even after drying using precision color inksworth the Canon pixma 9500 mkii. That is easily corrected with inkpress finishing spray, this finish produces an incredible print and excellent value. I highly recommend this paper as a great value and bang for buck.
