I have used this before, and I wanted to print my photographs that are going to a local art gallery. Because of our recent move to the area, I could not find the 2 boxes I had, and it was easier to order a fresh box from B & H Photo. As soon as I got them, I turned on my Canon Pixma Pro-10 printer and printed the photographs. Needless to say, the colors were fantastic and certainly worthy of the gallery. I like the Luster surface, which does not show fingerprints; texture is somewhat like a shiny version of semi-matte.

What I love about this photo paper is that it’s not actually paper weight. It is thick, like you get with manually processed film photos. And luster is the perfect name for it–it’s shiny, so it catches the light well, but it’s not matte. It also doesn’t have the glare of glossy photos, and doesn’t catch fingerprints like glossy photos do. The large 13×19 size is perfect for printing out 12×12 scrapbook pages, or wall art prints!

The Epson equivalent paper is more than twice as expensive, but I achieved excellent results the very first time printing a near poster sized beautiful early dawn shot of the Port of Miami and skyline. Using an Epson WF7620 printer I experienced no smears runs or other quality issues, the ink dried nearly instantly and frankly I couldn’t be happier. I recommend this large format paper for photo quality printing without hesitation.

Once I found the sweet spot as to how this paper worked with my printer I was very satisfied with the results. I gave it a five because it met my expectations. I print both landscape and portrait and both come out just superb. you may have to go with more gloss if you’re printing commercial shots, but for portraits and landscapes this paper is excellent!

Photo paper pro luster paper is a very good all around paper for many types of photography. Its one of my favorite go to papers (but I do experiment with other papers for the type of look I want to capture). If you are a photographer that follows end to end color management, this paper renders colors very well. If there are any variances from what you expect from your color management process, this paper is very easy to profile. Works best with Canon OEM inks and pro level printers (pro 100, pro10, pro 1 and pro 1000). This paper can also be used with high quality non-OEM ink and with other photo printers, but for perfect results you will need to create an ICC profile. I use a Canon pro-10 and color management is perfect. (My printer is 3 years old and I recently had to reprofile the paper, and the results are as good as if the printer was new). Pro luster is a resin coated paper, so if you need ultra long longevity, then you you may already know that RC coated papers will not provide that for you. However, longevity for pro luster is, generally speaking, very good on a comparative basis if prints are kept out of direct sunlight and protected with a spray (and of course Canon OEM ink will outlast (ie. take longer to fade or colorshift) than any other third party ink).
