You can print directly onto CD, DVD, and Blu-ray discs with the use of the disc tray. Other features include automatic power on and off for power management when the printer is not in use as well as compatibility with the PIXMA Printing Solutions smartphone application.

Let me start by saying that I am a loyal canon customer… multiple cameras, dslr, lenses, and printers. I love them all but I HATE THE i8720!!! Paper does not feed no matter what I do… I’ve only owned it for about 2 months but do not have my original box because I thought I was going to love it like all my other canon product… I was wrong! Do yourself a favor and do not waste your money on this printer

Out of the box I was surprised to look at my counter and hands to find a rainbow of splattered colors from the cartridges leaking. Be very careful to stay away from rugs and nice clothing when installing. I used multiple Macs, Air, Mac PRO, IMAC, and Macbook Pro all on the same network. I have a very difficult time trying to set up on the network. I went to USB and the printer will disappear and the I have to restart the computer. So far it is a real hassle. It must be a great windows printer but as a MAC owner I will probably trash it.

By far the best printer I’ve ever owned! Very high quality prints. Easy setup and use. Very satisfied with the purchase. Perfect for my budget too.

I am extremely please with this printer. The printer setup was very easy and straight forward. It works flawlessly with our WiFi network. The print quality is excellent. I would definitely recommend this printer for anyone seeking a large paper printer.

Actually I could rate this printer 5 star except for our experience with an earlier Canon printer I bought for my wife. An ip7220 printer. It is so bad that I came close to looking for a printer other than Canon for myself after many years of better luck. Even after Canon replacing the original, it is very slow & noisy preparing to print. And it has a hard time picking up paper from the lower tray if there is any slight irregularity on an edge. My new ip8720 is solid, & quiet as it prepares to print quickly & does a very good job with both text & prints. A good thing is both my wife’s printer and my new one use the same ink cartridges. Thanks for that

Superb color on 1st print out of the box using Image garden, very sharp prints. If you learn to use your Print Driver completely you will be very satisfied with this printer. Mine is USB connected on an iMac.Replaced a broken Pro-100 with this and its all I needed…

Great for printing large pictures, as long as the light is not difficult. Night shots sometimes have burnt out or blown out highlight spots. Normally these should print as white spots. This printer converts these spots into dark gray, lights are dark spots with bright halos, thus ruining otherwise great shots. I can recommend this only with a large caution attached.

Only made a few prints on different photo papers and all looks great! Color, contrast, and brightness are spot on with my calibrated monitor. Graphics/Acad drawings look good, but still like laser plots more.

I thought I was buying a WIRELESS printer but the usual cannon non-working wireless crap.

I purchased the Pixma iP8720 Inkjet photo printer after my Pixma iX6520 printer died. I got the dreaded B200 printer error, which said that the printer needs repair. I tried to fix it myself, unsuccessfully, so I decided that it wouldnt be worth it to send it to Canon to get it fixed. I was happy with the old printer (lasted for a full 4 years), so I looked around for something similar. Just a photo printer with no extras such as a scanner, fax, etc. The Pixma iP8720 seemed to be a good replacement. Ive only had it for 11 days, and have printed many 5x7s and a few 8x10s, and so far i am very happy with it. Photos are even better than the 6520 as it has an extra (grey) ink cartridge for better black/grey tones. Photos come out sharp and clear, with good color rendition. And it can print up to 13×19 borderless prints. Seems to be faster and quieter than the iX6520 too. Im not using the wifi connection, just a usb connection directly into my desktop iMac. Works great. I would highly recommend this printer if you print a lot of photos and need print sizes of 4×6 up to 13×19. Only 4 stars now as I have only used it for about 11 days. I will update my review after a while so I can report on the reliability (hopefully I can change it to 5 stars!).

purchased to make large format color prints severe banding noticed in prints on matte paper slightly better on Canon Glossy paper but not passable for any purpose. Print head alignments performed repeatedly but no improvement in output.

Like the Cannon PIXMA ip8720. the printing is so clear with good color and easy printing settings. The best investment in this printer. The ink is a little princely. But with the big cartilages you do save on ink wells. I would recommend this to anyone who do there own printing.

This is a great little printer for the price. I have been selling art prints that are produced on it can handle Archival paper and the colors come out nice and bright.

Works great, quite a step up from the IP 4600.

The setup for this printer was quick and painless and the color quality of my photo prints is excellent. My one disappointment is that I have 13″ x 38″ pano photo paper that I wanted to print on. Unfortunately, the printer page setup options limit you to a size of 13 x 26 1/2 inches.

This is my 2nd iP8720 The printer takes paper up to 13×19 which is GREAT for posters and signs. The print quality is excellent whether printing grayscale or color graphics or photos – I print a LOT of each. The printer is easy to connect. I’ve had no trouble with either printer connecting via Wi-Fi (individually) – I have to use USB (cable not included) because my system would not out of the box recognize both printers via USB. The printer is fast in comparison to my HP OfficeJet 8610. A 1-page MS word document (text only) printed in 6 seconds on the Canon and 17 seconds on the HP. I have not done a timed test on color printing between the two; but am more than happy with the response to anything I’ve printed from the Canon. ISSUE: my ONLY issue with this printer is the ink replacements. The ink cartridges come with an orange strip of cellophane that must be pulled off the cartridge before using it in the printer. Putting any pressure on the sides of the ink cartridge while removing this can lead to some ink leaking out. My issue is that once placed in the printer — when the ink leaked out I used the cartridge and got ink on the print head, which case caused the printer to not print in the color I had messed up (Cyan). I removed the print head & cleaned it thoroughly and now prints in color, but my work requires detail and I do NOT want to take the chance on residual ink marks on my printouts – which have not happened yet, but then I only use that printer for personal printing where perfection doesn’t matter. Overall, I love the printer.

Excellent wireless printer. Photoprints are vivid . Had problems connecting wireless but corrected quickly with Canon problem solver support. The printer is physically large but not bulky. Ink cartridges provided are not long lasting. I specifically wanted a Pro quality printer that was reasonably priced and B&H photo again provided great presage knowledge with great prices.
