This is my go to paper for my prints. B&H did a great job of protecting the paper during shipment. The heavy duty corner protection makes all the difference.

An excellent paper for both BW and color inkjet printing. I am printing on an Epson R1900, and getting excellent results. The weight of and the finish on the paper are both very nice, and the richness of the printing tones is spectacular.

I love that paper : I have been using Canson for a while and I am very happy about . This Platine Fiber Rag is 1) Fiber ! 2) 310g/m2 great weight and 3) beautiful rendering of color and BW with a great Ultra Smooth finish. I think it’s equal to a good Baryta with a Fiber support.

just getting started with this paper, but it seems very nice for b&w on the epson 3800. Similar to Hahnemuhle Fine Art Pearl but with slightly smoother texture. Similar paper color. Perhaps slightly more contrast with manufacturer-supplied icc profile; it is suggested to leave black point compensation unchecked, so perhaps that is the cause. Very rich results. Haven’t used it for color yet. A good paper to try, if you haven’t yet!

Hands down the best non-matte photographic paper, both for color and black and white

I’ve used Canson paper before while I had the Canon Pro-100. I zeroed in on Platine as my favorite. About as low a luster without going matte. When I got the P800, I debated whether to get the Epson Premium Luster, since it is cheaper. But when I compared the two side by side, the Canson won out. Plus, no OBA’s for whitening.

I bought this paper to test it as an alternative to Arches Platine, since it is no longer available. And as I have found out, PLATINUM/PALLADIUM PRINTING DOES NOT WORK ON THIS PAPER. This paper is strictly meant for inkjet printing. However, I ran two tests so far, and I found that my colors turned out really funny, but my black and white image printed beautifully.

The other 24 reviews pretty much say it all about this paper. I wanted to add a couple of things. I used this for some professional portrait work and the rendering of the skin tones and other subtle shades was very pleasing. For users of Epson Stylus Pro printers that switch from photo black to matte black, this paper has the distinct advantage of being calibrated for photo black, avoiding the unpleasant process of the printer switching inks. All other cotton rag papers that I have used have required the matte black ink.

I wrote a glowing review earlier and I need to add a caveat. With my Canon ip8720 printer, I always get banding (faint yet noticeable roller imprint) in very dark areas of the print. This is probably related to how black areas become somewhat glossy. This does not occur with any other paper (semi-gloss or other) of comparable thickness and quality (I have tested a large variety of them). Hopefully, the banding would not be a problem if you use a more professional quality printers. The ip8720 is not designed for thick papers (though it works perfectly). I would still use it in prints where no large black areas are expected.

I use this paper for my b/w documentary photo exhibitions. Prints look great under any light conditions. It could produce true black & white image with the feel of traditional F-type surface. Also it has a rather forgiving character against faulty color adjustment for b/w image( I’m using so-called ‘duo tone’, or ‘tri tone’ to get monochrome image.)

This is a great luster paper. I love the color of the paper, and the fact that it doesn’t have optical brighteners. The weight is just right. My fine are prints look fantastic, and sales have been good. The profile, at least for my 3880, are all I need.

My favorite in the Canson Luster line. Deep blacks, great Dmax. Beautiful tooth. I love it
Virgil Hauck (verified owner) –
This paper is very well color balanced, does not get any blocked or fuzzy areas of detail in darker shadows and has a strong dimensional pop to it. Should be printed on your printer’s highest setting to allow for full detail and color brilliance. The finest setting for printing is the slowest and gets the most out of this paper. Highly recommend for both color and black and white. Definitely responds well to the Epson inks.

Canson Platine Fibre Rag gives me impressive results no matter what the photograph — saturated color to deep B&W.

Fairly subtle texture. Uses Photo Black ink on Epson. Perfect for black and white.. perhaps suitable for oolor florals etc.
