A 72 -tooth low profile ratchet can make all the difference in harder to get places, narrow places, or that last extra click to make sure you are tight. The 5% degree arc, assures a quality job. In fact I check tool boxes of service men to make sure they have proper tools for tight places. It insures a correctly tightened job. I have struggled for many hours trying to fasten bolts with other straight tools. This tool makes the job shorter. It is heavy duty and well built. In order to test it we put a pipe on the end of it and reefed it on a 1″ bolt. It did not break or stress.I expect to have it for a long time.

Excellent quality ratchet that rivals the tool truck brands. Chrome finish is superb with a high polish and luster. Teardrop handle fits well in the hand and with length to give confidence in use. The 72 teeth gear design gives a low enough swing arc for those tight space when in use and is smooth in function with very little noticeable back drag. Direction selector is low profile but still firm in selection with positive feel. Socket engagement is also firm with no wobble. Highly recommend these ratchets for both home use and professional use.

Nice Ratchet. I like this ratchet. It appears to be very well made, though there is no indication of WHERE it was manufactured. The company is located in Pomona, CA, but that doesn’t mean the products are made there. When possible, I prefer to buy American made products, though that seems to be extremely difficult anymore. I took it apart out of curiosity to examine all the parts. THERE IS NO PLASTIC! Everything is steel and fits well. The teeth look to be very well cut and mated. All the parts look to be machined well, and well lubricated in all the right places. Got it back together using a whittled popsicle stick to hold the ball against the spring in the indent. Screws had blue Locktite to keep them from coming loose with use, a nice attention to detail. At my age, and the kind of work I do now, I’ll never wear this ratchet out. It is a very smooth, highly polished, well finished tool, making it easy to keep clean.IT’s so shiny, it was hard to get take pictures without glare or reflections. I compared the action of it to a couple of other manufacturer’s ratchets. It is nice and tight, with no slop between the teeth. The 72 teeth work out to 18 “clicks” per ¼ turn. The old Xxxxxxmax is 9 clicks per ¼ turn or 36 teeth, meaning you have to turn it twice as far as the Capri to get a new bite. The Xxxxburx is 11 clicks per ¼ turn or 44 teeth. So, this Capri ratchet will bite with much less of a turn. I then compared the size with the old Xxxxxxmax. The Capri head thickness is Approx. 1.422” thick, while the old one is approx. 1.547”. The Capri head is approx. 1.465” wide, while the old one is approx. 1.723”. The Capri is approx. 9.8125” long, while the old one is approx. 10.25”. All the dimensions are a bit smaller, which makes it easier to use in tight places, while still providing good leverage. The handle being round instead of wide tapered also helps. Sockets go on and off relatively easy, while still holding well. The only downside I can see is that there is no button to release the socket, which could make changing sockets with oily or greasy hands a bit challenging. Another possible concern might be that since there are many more teeth, they are going to be much shallower cut, so it might not handle as much torque as one with less, but deeper cut, teeth. Overall, this is a very nice, well-made tool. Might like to get the other sizes also, and check out other Capri tools. I noticed on their website, what appears to be a very good hacksaw, as well as several other nice looking tools. HD sells these tools online only, but I’m one who likes to feel, or, at least, see things before I buy them.

Comparing this 1/2 inch ratchet to the 40-year-old (!) Craftsman that is my mainstay, the Capri driver is the same length but somewhat lighter. The handle is comfortable, though the taper at the end didn’t fit my large hands all that well. The fine-tooth gearing feels precise., and the reversing lever is easy to flick with a thumb. (I was very puzzled, though, that this lever is labeled ON-OFF – which makes no sense whatsoever.)You will need a flat-blade screwdriver to pry off the retaining disc on the back of the packaging.

I bought this intending to try it on some over tight lug nuts on my car. My tire place likes to use their air tools which must be set around 300 ft lbs. My cordless impact, tested at over 200 ft lbs, will not budge them. They are supposed to be torqued to less than 100. I put a 4 foot pipe on this ratchet and it loosened the nuts! This is really abuse but it is strong enough to work. It is also nice they label on and off for the ratchet positions. Sometimes under a car I get a bit disoriented. Good ratchet.
