I like these cutters. They are a good quality tool, especially compared to other micro flush cutters I’ve purchased elsewhere. I have several other pairs of micro flush cutters that I use for cutting different types of wire. I use them frequently because I cut wire for many of my art, lamp making and jewelry making projects. These cut a square, almost completely flush, cut. They do an excellent job of cutting smaller, fine wires and are handy for me with stranded lamp wire as they cut cleanly. They are small enough and angled so they get into tight places and sharp enough to cut cleanly. They do leave a “ridge” in the middle of the cut on larger wire – bear in mind that these are recommended for smaller gauge wire so the pictures I’ve included below are not so typical as they are pictures of the cut end of 16 gauge electrical wire. I cut some larger wire so the cut end would show better. One of the pictures shows (or tries to show) the difference between the flush cut these cutters produce and the typical diagonal (arrow point-like) cut that most cutting pliers produce. To get the best “flushest” 90 degree cut make sure to hold the cutters at a 90 degree perpendicular angle to the wire(s) that you’re cutting. These cutters have a nice cushioned grip with a spring return and an angled head. They do an excellent job of square cutting the beading wire I use in jewelry making, too, so I hardly have to file the wire end at all. That’s a real advantage to me. I hope you find this info helpful to you.

I have been an electronics technician for many decades. Small precision wire-cutters, “snips”, are always at my side. Wires, resistors, circuit boards, hangnails. I’ve used the fancy brands, and also a lot of the red snips that RS used to sell. But they are closing stores so I am looking at what is out there. These are excellent for electronics! They are sharp, cut well. The fine nose gets between pins well. As a bonus, there is a “finger” which tends to grab the cut-off so it does not go flying. (But always wear eye protection.) They feel exceptionally well made. Perhaps the best-made snips I have ever owned. Wonderful grips! Smooth, wide, soft but not mushy. These are “small”. The rated capacity is 0.8mm soft. In US wires this is #20 Copper. This covers a lot of electronic wiring. They struggle with larger wires. As an experiment I cut #12 house wire (2mm!). It cut, but the “finger” was not the same after. Carpi Tools has been marketing fine tools to mechanics and other professional workers for decades. These snips are forged in Japan and assembled in Taiwan, both places with long traditions of steel crafts and modern manufacturing.

The Klinge series is a premium line of cutting tools by Capri Tools. The Klinge 5 in. Micro Shear Flush Cutters are needed for precision matters. It has an angled jaw for access into small areas, and a flush bevel for precise flush cut. As with all cutting tools it’s absolutely mandatory to wear proper safety gear. Tight fitting safety glasses are a must. Wearing safety cut gloves is your personal choice. This tool is not your particular typical wide mouth wire cutters. This tool is engineered specially for tight areas cutting soft wires (1/32 in., 0.8 mm). 51 HRC. These cutters are constructed entirely of premium forged high-carbon steel and underwent state of the art heat treating process so they stay sturdy and sharp over time. The Klinge 5-Inch Micro Shear Flush Cutters is what you’ll find in the tote trays of most advanced licensed electricians and licensed aviation mechanics when precision truly matters.

I like to build circuits with discrete components and printed circuit boards. This cutter is great for cutting component leads flush with the board or solder. It has smaller jaws then my mini diagonal cutters or end nippers, so it is easier to get into tight places. It also has longer handles so that takes less effort to cut the leads – great when trimming leads on 1/2 or 1 watt resisters The handles are comfortable, and the spring is inline with one of the handles, where it is not going to catch on anything..While this cutter is not going to completely eliminate the other cutters for trimming leads, it is a great addition to the other two.

Over the past several months I’ve been given several of these little metal models (see picture). The metal is thin and the cuts are made by laser, but detaching them from the sheet is a bit tricky. This micro shear looked like just the tool for the job, since it says that it cuts flush. With this, removing parts from the sheet is effortless and no spur remains on the part. It also cuts polystyrene sprue like butter and removes through-hole components from circuit boards expertly. I’ve never used Klinge tools before, but the quality of the tool looks excellent and it feels good in the hand.
