The Capri Tools Impact Universal Joint Set helps you reach fasteners in tight corners and spaces with power tools. Ball spring design that distributes torque evenly and works in a smooth 360° rotations. It features spring-loaded detent balls that securely hold sockets in place. We use premium Chrome Molybdenum steel tempered with our proprietary heat treatment process to make these impact universal joint adapters. They are durable and specifically made to withstand high torque from power tools. Each item is expertly coated with manganese phosphate, the preferred coating in military and aerospace, which offers superior protection and corrosion resistance compared to black oxide coating on other impact sockets. 3-piece set: 1/4 in. drive, 3/8 in. drive, and 1/2 in. drive impact universal joints.

Very happy with this little must have set. Every DIY-er should have this set for tasks around the home and even more so for those hard to reach nuts. I like the 360 mobility opposed to the standard rigid drivers that are out on the market. All three sizes were true to size(compared to my existing drivers). The durability stood up to the test and there were no signs of stripping on either of the three sizes. Again, I would recommend this product if you don’t already have it in your tool box.

Somehow the designers of machines make it so that some bolts simply cannot be reached properly. We have all been in that situation. This set goes a long way in resolving the problem. You get three universal joints – one each for the three standard socket drivers sizes: ¼”, ⅜”, and ½” I used the ⅜” drive one to reach some otherwise impossible mounting bolts on my snowblower this week. The Universal joint clipped firmly onto a long extension driver and I was able to place the socket on the other end of the universal joint. The joint was also stiff enough to balance the bolt in the socket when it came time to put the bolts back in. It was a massive time saver. Not only do these joints seem well designed and manufactured, they are also rated to handle impact drivers. Impact drivers exert massive forces on bits and sockets and any joints along the drive path, so you need especially tough joints for impact use.Material: They are made of Chrome Molybdenum SteelRange of movement: 30° x 360°Lifetime warranty against defects in workmanship and materialsMade in Taiwan

So many adapters out there are NOT rated for use with an impact tool. This can be really frustrating because I think that impact tools have revolutionized the amount of effort it takes to do repetitive fastener tasks, like removing lug nuts, or driving lag bolts while perched on a ladder. These universal joint tools do not have as much range of motion as some of the others that I’ve used, but I actually find that helpful. You see, sometimes you end up fighting the joint adapter more than the bolt or nut because it has so much range that you now have to use two hands; one to operating the impactor trigger and the other to hold the adapter and socket combo in the right orientation. Also, using an impact tool can cause very flexible adapters to jump off the fastener and cause damage to the fastener and/or the operator.

Seems like very good quality. Only reason it’s not a 5 is it came covered in oil.

These impact rated universal joint adapters can be a lifesaver when you can’t access a nut or bolt any other way. I’ve had to to double or triple the work before just to remove enough parts to access the bolt I originally wanted to remove. If I had this set then, it could have saved me a good 30-45 minutes! The materials for these are top notch – it doesn’t get better than chrome moly when it comes to impact sockets and adapters. It’s hard and tough (not brittle), the best of both worlds. They are quite a bit beefier than standard non-impact rated u-joint socket adapters, but then again they can handle WAY more torque. They’re designed so they can handle friction ring or pin detent impact wrenches, as well as friction ring or pin detent sockets. So no matter what you’re using, they should be compatible as long as you have the right size.I checked the working angle, and found it to be right at the advertised 30° (see pictures – and don’t use chrome vanadium extensions with these – it was just for illustration!). They turn pretty smoothly in that angle range, without any noticeable binding.Overall, these are a great backup to have in the toolbox – you may not use them all the time, but when you do need them, they’re a lifesaver!

These universal joints are indispensable if you do any auto or mechanical work with impact tools. They are rugged and should last a long time. They are a little bulkier than standard u-joints but that is because they are impact rated. I use them to get to hard to reach fasteners when working on my vehicles (see picture). There are certain jobs I just cannot do without these. They come in a plastic tray that is not really for storage, mostly for shipping, so I have tossed hem in my socket drawer. The set includes 1/4″, 3/8″, and 1/2″ u-joints. I suspect the 3/8″ will get the most use around here.
