The 128-Piece Master Mechanics Tool Set is a complete collection of most frequently used sockets, adapters, ratchets, combination wrenches, extension bars and screwdriver bits, organized in one convenient impact-resistant tool case. Each tool in this set is hand selected from our catalog of premium hand tools. Sockets, adapters and combination wrenches are made of premium Chrome Vanadium steel tempered with our proprietary heat treatment process to withstand more torque. Screwdriver bits are made of exceptionally strong S2 steel. Sockets feature our 6-point WaveDrive design grips fasteners more tightly than traditional design, preventing fastener rounding and giving you more leverage. Combination wrenches feature 12-point WaveDrive box end transfers torque uniformly and prevents damaging and rounding of the bolt, 15° offset for knuckle clearance and working in tight spots. We apply our own chrome plating to each tool in the set. Our chrome plating is achieved through thorough polishing and careful application of chrome protective plating and ensures durability and corrosion resistance. Capri Master Mechanics Tool Set (128-Piece) – a Home Depot Seeds Program ReviewThe Capri Master Mechanics Tool Set is a pretty comprehensive package. With 128 pieces it has the tools necessary to satisfy many of the needs of any mechanic and it comes in a nice, hard plastic case to keep them in order. The set contains a very reasonable selection of standard and deep sockets in metric and SAE fitting the 1/4” and 3/8” quick release drive ratchets. There are also SAE spark plug sockets. There’s no 1/2” ratchet but there is a 3/8” to 1/2” adapter. There are also extension bars, universal joints, and other adapters to fit the tools together in virtually any desired configuration. There is a good selection of combination wrenches in metric and SAE as well as 1/4” S2 bits to handle phillips, slotted, hex and star screws. This set is not going to replace the multi drawer, fully stocked professional tool sets used by serious mechanics, but this set has all of the essential tools for the DIYer and is very portable.The tools seem to have a very high quality finish. I haven’t used them long enough to know if they will chip but I don’t think there will be a problem with them. The documentation says the sockets are “ constructed from Chrome Vanadium Steel and finished with SmartKrome to withstand more torque while resisting corrosion.” Perhaps marketing speak but I have no doubt they will withstand hard use. Capri Tools offers a lifetime warranty on these tools.There are 1/4” and 3/8” ratchets. As noted, there is not a 1/2” ratchet but there are also no 1/2” drive sockets. There is a 3/8” to 1/2” adapter if you want to use other sockets. The ratchets are very nice and low profile. The ratchets feel very good in the hand, The handles are smooth but formed to fit a hand so I suspect they’ll do well even with greasy hands. They have 72 teeth which allows a very short swing – something most people will really appreciate when working in a tight spot. The metal quick release button works exceptionally well and drops the socket out smoothly every time. The reverse switch seems plastic but does not feel “cheap” and I have no doubt it will hold up under use. The combination wrenches feel very good. The open end has a 5 degree angle to the handle for fitting into tight spots. The box end has a 5 degree offset for the same reason.There are standard and deep sockets as well as spark plug sockets. The documentation says they use a “WaveDrive” technology which “provides security and reduces stress on fastener corners to prevent fastener rounding.” Frankly, I can’t say if it actually does anything or if it’s just marketing (I suspect the latter), but the six point sockets work very well.The case is hard plastic with good, strong latches and holds all of the pieces of the tool kit. Many of the pieces lock into place which keeps them from getting loose inside the case. The case and tools weighs about 21 pounds but it’s very compact and can be taken anywhere you’ll need them.Overall I think this is a great tool set. It has the pieces needed most often for most jobs. The case is strong and keep the tools secured and portable. All of the tools feel well made and should last through hard use. This set will not replace the full, professional set of tools in a rolling case, but would do a great job of supplementing that rolling case of tools. This is a terrific set for the DIYer.

FANTASTIC TOOL SET! Has the most needed tools for most jobs. Case is very solid and locks solid and best of all the bottom has no writing on it so I easily know top from bottom. I know, what does it matter. Really not at all with this set. All of the tools are firmly held in place so they won’t fall out. In fact some sockets are a little hard to extract from their place but that will loosen with use. The chrome plating is perfect. I took photo of a deep socket to show the quality. The wrench and sockets sizes are molded into the case and very clearly marked on tools. Another positive is the screwdriver handle is NOT MAGNETIC. The socket has opposing spring pads that hold the bits firmly.NEGATIVES: 1)The spark plug sockets do not have a rubber ceramic protector inside. 2) There is no color coding on the tools designating SAE from Metric. I started using white paint then realized my wife has a bright red and a bright blue fingernail polish that would be more outstanding. Red for SAE and blue for Metric and a future project when wife is not home. YES!

This is the best portable mechanic tool set I’ve found in a long time. It comes with the tools and sizes you would need the most. I find that most mechanic tool sets are very incomplete. The sockets are held in the case securely during transport.Husky has a comparable mechanic set that is very complete, but the sockets always spill out inside the case when I’m carrying it.

First, the case has reinforced corners and secure, strong cam over closure clamps. When you open the case the first thing to notice is that each tool snaps securely into its location. Next, molded into the case you see the size of each socket, SAE and Metric.The tools include both Metric and SAE combination open and box end wrenches. The chrome on all the tools is of high Quality. The kit provides ¼ and 3/8-inch ratchets, with short and long socket lengths. Also included are various lengths of extensions and both 1/4 and 3/8-inch swivels. Screw driver tips of various sizes are also included and with a short ¼” drive handle.This kit is a perfect starter kit for the new mechanic or as an emergency tool kit for your car or truck, it has everything you could need for small repairs. Out of all of the Mechanic tool sets I have seen this is one of the best and easily one of the best values.

Some great features:- sockets are shallow and deep, no skips, in every size you’d likely need for a to go kit – for exp, Metric runs all the way from 5.5mm to 22mm- extensions, adapters, universal joints, driver, and S2 bits are included *extensions go up to 9” in in 1/4 and 10 in in 3/8, longer than typical mechanics master sets *universal joints use torx head pin screws to hold their joints together which can be retightened and replaced – no more flop * 1/2 and 3/8 in reducer adapters are bored through the center allowing them to double as t handle adapters with the long extensions; including the 1/2 allows you to use your 1/2 ratchet with the kit * 1/4 driver has a female drive end in the end of the handle and its metal bar runs the length of the handle making it another extension, not just a bit / socket driver- the chrome is superb- the weight of the pieces speaks to high quality metal and professional grade tools- markings on sockets are clear and easy to read- each tool snaps firmly into place in kit and doesn’t fall out; tool sizes are marked- case is solid and rugged, and clasps are high quality- ratchets are serviceable; sealed head with recessed torx screws and quick releaseThe ratchets it comes with are decent (72 teeth, beautiful chrome, smooth operation with upgraded internals compared to other ratchets similar in appearance). Can do the job, even for pros, but considering the pro grade theme of the kit, would have been nice to see lower profile ratchets with a higher tooth count.Still, overall, the set seems to be worth every penny and then some. You’ll be hard pressed to find a more intelligent and comprehensive selection of tools in a single to go kit.

The 128 Piece Master Mechanics Tool Set is not like most packaged tool sets. Most over the counter tool sets consist of a few good tools, and a lot of stuff you really don’t need. Not so with this tool set. The instant you pick up the case, you feel the difference in weight. And when you open the case I challenge you to find anything that you really don’t need. The tools are quality, and more quality. I really can’t find anything to gripe about. The case is laid out right. And the tools are professional all the way. Love this set.
