This stripper works very well. I have used it on several types of wire and it seems to pop the insulation off all of therm without nicking the conductor. The only wire it had trouble with was 18 gauge Teflon insulated high temperature wire. I managed to get it to strip the wire but I had to kind of wrap the end of the wire around the stripper to keep it from being pulled through the tool. This was due to the extreme slickness of the insulation. In fairness to the stripper this wire is very hard to strip due to the nature of the insulation. The only gripe I have with the tool is the lack of instructions. The card says to carefully follow all instructions, however there are none. The package included a bag of real important looking stuff but no picture or anything as to what the pieces were for. I looked up the tool on the company’s web site and they had a picture of the stripper with the extra pieces attached, so maybe they could at least put instructions on their website. All in all I am going to be using this a lot to keep from nicking the conductor when I strip wire.

Capri Precision Wire StrippersSlick wire stripper: A great product from Capri. I really like these precision wire strippers. I do a lot of bread boarding and these make the work easier. It is also nice because they don’t jerk or put external strain on the wires that could pull the wire off the circuit board. The wire gage proper position is clearly marked on the teeth. You can add the guide to cut the wire at just the right length every time. This tool makes it so you don’t have to tug and pull to get the insulator. It has a spring action that as you squeeze the pliers the tool spreads the part of the tool that is cutting from the part that it is holding an in one squeeze motion you have the wire perfectly stripped without damaging the wire. The only thing I wish is that the allen wrench and the wire stop guide had a place to go on the wrench when they aren’t being used. I have an electronic tool box so I will just keep them in there. I recommend this product to anyone who has a lot of wire stripping to do.

Looking for an automatic wire stripper to complement my basic pliers type. The pliers can be difficult to use when close to the electrical box. The tool looks very well built and carries a 10 year warranty. It comes with a wire stop to help consistently strip wires to a predefined length. Stripping wires is now fast and easy with the tool. Ok. The guys didn’t think it was very funny when I told them I was bringing a stripper to their bachelor party and I showed up with this – but when I rewired the man cave all was forgiven. For most of my wiring life I’ve used those simple pliers type wire strippers where you guess the wire guage and end up smashing something or fingers when you try to get the insulation from the wire – or you simply cut the wire in two. And the amount of insulation you remove is always different in length. This little jewel from Capri Tools will accurately strip from 8 through 20 AWG solid and 10 through 22 AWG stranded wire. It also has an adjustable fence which allows accurate setting of the length of insulation to be stripped. (See the pix). You set the fence, put the wire into the groove that fits its guage, push the wire up to the fence and squeeze the pliers. Shazam! The wire is stripped with nothing more than a gentle squeeze and subsequent strippings will be exactly the same. This is ideal when wiring rooms with receptacles and switches. I just installed a 220v pump for which I had to do the wiring and this thing cut the job in half.
