These self adjusting wire strippers are a very neat tool to have in your bag of tricks! I always have trouble stripping wires no matter what the project. By using these self adjusting strippers there is no guess work like using wire cutters to strip your wires. All you do is insert the wire in the top of the jaws and squeeze. That’s it the wire is stripped perfectly! I should have one of these a long time ago.

Having done numerous jobs around the home and on the car/boat with electrical wiring using a conventional pair of those red handled wire strippers/crimpers, I thought I’d try out this self adjusting wire stripper. It’s ease of use is night and day compared to the other set of wire strippers I own and I can highly recommend it. I have attached a video to this review so you can see how easy it really is as a still photo doesn’t do it justice. There are so many times when I’ve wrestled with rotating my old school wire stripper around the ends of short wires sticking out of electrical switches and sockets that I now wish I’d have had this one instead! All you do is put the wire between the jaws, squeeze the handle and hey presto, about 1/2″ – 5/8″ of the insulation is removed which is about the ideal length for inserting into electrical outlets or switches. I tried a variety of sizes from 8 AWG multi strand wire from the boat, to 10 and 12 AWG single core electrical wiring and it handled them all with ease without me needing to make any adjustments to the stripper. I also tried finer 20 AWG automotive wiring and used the small adjuster screw to change the pressure to accomodate the thinner wire.I used the crimp tool as part of some work I was doing on making a new relay to solenoid cable for the starter motor on our tractor and I found the crimp function worked well. Unlike my other stripper/crimper, the handles on this stripper are substantial and don’t slip out of alignment when they are pressed together when crimping or cutting. There is also a built in wire cutter which is helpful. My only criticsm is that it would be helpful to have a little more guidance on the packaging as to how to adjust the strippers for the thinner gauge wiring. If you do the occasional remodel involving electrical wiring or you do automotive or marine electrical work, this tool is a must for the tool box as it is a real time saver.

I do a considerable amount of electrical wiring on mobile barriers and I make working harnesses for trailers. this tool is fantastic. what a time saver! though the crimpers and cutters work well I would suggest a separate crimping and cutting tool. the strippers are a bit clumsy for that kind of work especially if you do a lot of it.

This is the perfect stripping tool for the DIY user. It self adjusts to support 10 through 24 AWG wiring. It also has a cutter and crimping locations for insulated and non-insulated 10-22 AWG terminals and 7-8mm ignition terminals. There is a knob for performing micro adjustments as well. I used the product on 18 AWG wiring in both solid and stranded varieties. There is an adjustable depth gauge that is used to set how much insulation to remove. The stripper removed the insulation perfectly without nicking the wire underneath. Because of the way the stripper is designed, the action as you squeeze the handle has a slight pause or catch in it but the device works great regardless.
