I am giving 4 Stars because I just got it and havent had much chances to try it. So far, I tested at 30 ft lbs on lug nut, it seems accurate, clicks are very loud. Very well built, looks much better than Tekton. I will need to try it on more delicate nuts: brakes, oil pans, etc to really comment any more.

Capri has a wide range of torque tools for diy to professional. l received my wrench a couple of weeks ago and just had the chance to use it on a bottom bracket of a Litespeed bicycle. I can say first hand my guess or estimate is way off from the actual measure. As aways follow the instructions and the tool performs well. Be sure to store the tool at the low setting.

This torque wrench is well-packed in the box. Although I am unfamiliar with the brand, it is one seriously great-looking torque wrench. Not that its contemporary design matters, but it is striking. I’m unfamiliar with the brand, but like most torque wrenches, they assert their product is laboratory tested and certified.Torque display setting is easy to read and you can adjust the increments with a satisfying click. Wrenching is smooth and predictable.

Let me start by saying that this is my first torque wrench, I’ve owned socket sets before but never really thought that I had a need for one. With that said, I really can’t speak of how this tool compares to other torque wrenches, but I can say that I am very impressed by the quality of it. It comes in a nice hard case to keep it protected which I thought was a very nice touch, especially since they are calibrated from the factory and you want to keep it that way. The tool itself is very nice and feels solid, the finish is very nice and the mechanism to adjust the amount of torque is smooth and easy to adjust. I tested it after I sharpened my lawnmower blade, the user manual suggested using a torque wrench when putting the blade back on, it worked really great for that, again very easy to dial in the setting that I needed.Again, like I said, I don’t have a lot of experience with torque wrenches, so I can’t compare it to others, but I’m assuming that this is more an entry level tool based on the price compared to others, it should serve a DIYer like me just fine. As an everyday tool? I can’t say how well it will hold up, but for my purpose, it’s all that I need.

I have used my father’s torque wrench on numerous vehicles as well as their riding lawn mower for roughly 15 years. Now that I have my own home, vehicles and will be inheriting the tractor, I figured I should get a torque wrench to perform the regular maintenance. Having used this type of tool for so many years, I was familiar with its operation and the features that make it convenient. As part of my initial assessment of this product, I carefully unpacked and documented at each step. I was pleased with the care taken with packaging (sealed in shrink plastic -> inside rigid cardboard box -> inside durable rigid plastic tool case -> positioned to ensure tool does not shift during travel).I next assessed the operation of the tool in regards to torque adjustment setting, tightening of knob to lock torque setting and the operation of the socket and direction lever. During this process, I noted some purely cosmetic defects in the shaft of the tool (2 photos uploaded showing the two worst defects). The majority of the defects were too minor/small to be photographed and as such are of very little concern to a consumer since this type of tool is prone to dings in normal use. However, with a human or automated camera quality control system, this issue could be drastically reduced.Overall I have to say I am impressed though with the quality construction and care taken to verify that each specific product is tested and meets specifications the manufacturer has required on behalf of the consumer. At $35 according to the current price on Home Depot Online, this tool is a great deal and I would definitely recommend it for the average home owner to use to properly torque their wheel lug nuts and home heavy equipment recommending torque specifications. New mechanics should also consider this tool as it has the quality and features they will need in school while being lower cost which is absolutely critical when there are so many other necessary tools that are much more costly like pneumatic tools and high-precision tools. This item was requested through the Home Depot Seeds program which is an invite by HD only and voluntary participation program where Seeds participants provide unbiased reviews of vendor selected and supplied items.

I have 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 Capri torque wrenches for motorcycle repair. The torque wrenches work best when they are used in the mid-ranges of the tools. In the case of the 3/8 version, the torque accuracy at 10ft/lbs and 80ft/lbs, is questionable. Best to use either a 1/4 or a 1/2 depending on how much torque is required. They work great for me and break where they should have. Just torque the bolts slowly from a tightened state, so you don’t over torque the bolt and miss the torque stop point.

I am new with using a torque wrench so i had a hard time Figuring it out no thanks to no instructions was a big help. Add to go to several YouTube videos to get an idea how to set the lbs.Not sure if im 100%correct or not but i think i am somewhat on track. I wouldn’t use this as an every day tool but for the $40 it ok.

The purpose of the torque wrench is to lessen the chance of over or under tightening. The most accurate torque wrench in the world can still cause damage if the threads or the head of the bolt is greased. All recommended torques are with threads assumed to be in-spec and with threads free of debris or lubrication. With that in mind, +/- 4% is plenty accurate for a home torque wrench. This manufacture even includes what spec the built the wrench to and when and who calibrated and certified it. My rule of thumb is that you can tell a quality product when someone is willing to put their name on it, and this wrench had the name of the manufacturer and the calibration technician.I’m looking to replace a rear motor mount and two blown front struts on my car with this wrench. I used it for a simple head gasket repair (where I had to accurately and in sequence tighten about 13 bolts) but the torques were fairly light. Using this in the replacement of larger and major safety components will give me confidence that I did it right.
