Perfect tool for shortening up long (small diameter) screws. I am adding drawer knobs to jar lids and I didn’t want the screw hanging down into the jar–worked great!

These were precisely what I needed, small, yet strong!

The cutters are very solid in design, Compact as well which is a good and bad thing about them. The Cutting head is your typical bolt cutter design, very solid with no play or possible blade roll or overlap. The cutter edges are or good quality steel with lots of angle to separate what you’re cutting. The problem with them being 8″ and calling them bolt cutters is because BEING only 8″ they are not able to cut bolts……there is simply not enough leverage. I tried and was eventually successful cutting a chain link that measured just under 1/4″ and it was a struggle, I had to stand on them. By the way, that should speak for the quality of this tool as i am a 220lb man standing on them. With that being said about their limitations, I do see great value for these being in your tool belt as a heavy duty cutter, being able to cut what lineman pliers or you stander cutter cant. When it comes to anything larger than 1/4″ steel i will defiantly be grabbing REAL bolt cutters. I am still glad i have these and use them quit often for cutting all kinds of stuff…..just not bolts. See my pics for items cut.

Oh wow what can I say I realllllllllllllllllly like these bolt cutters. I use to remember only see the ones with the long handles that people used and so I never gave them a chance I just those who had them cut the nail/bolt thingy. But when I kept scrolling on Home Depot I said, Whattttt I can hold that in one hand. I immediately bought it and just like a hot knife cutting into butter it was history for me to call somebody to help me with projects now I have my own now and can do it just fine. Best of all it fits in one hand I am loving it.

Made in Taiwan. CrMo blades are hardened to HRC 62. Effective cutting diameter no more than 6 mm, or 1/4 inch, which make suitable for cutting chain link fencing. Comfortable ‘soft grip’ handles; however, my medium large hands have a tough time grasping them when jaws are fully open making for a 2-handed operation; one-hand operation is limited to cutting 1/8″ diameters. Weighs in at 13 oz.

For its intended use (ie. cutting relatively small diameter parts) this is a fairly well made tool. Since it does not incorporate a 5-link compound action, there is limited leverage available for larger objects, quickly maxing out the capability of one’s hand strength. Multiple cuts on a threaded fastener (see photos) did not result in any visible damage or dulling of the cutting edges. The latch (for keeping the tool closed when not in use) is a plastic part which will likely not last as long as the rest of the tool, but will not affect the function of the cutter. The design of the cutter results in a sharp edged “pinch point” (see photo) requiring some care when holding small parts near the cutter to steady it to avoid catching one’s skin near the thumb (don’t ask!). Someone with stronger hands could probably have cut thicker objects. Human muscle will be the limiting factor, not the metallurgy of the cutters. If you have the need to frequently cut small diameter steel wire or hardware, this compact sized tool would be useful.

Capri Tools Klinge 8 in. Mini Bolt Cutters are a handy pair that can go in your toolbox. I have a much larger pair and having to take them around to places is an inconvenience. Also, the larger one’s are not really suited for smaller jobs either. This is a well made pair, rubbery covered handles and a head design that is smaller to get into tight spots. Its made of high quality Chrome Molybdenum steel used in automotive and other machinery for its hardness. The cutters feel comfortable in the hand and are long enough to use both hands, if necessary, to close them. They are well machined and the jaws don’t shift or wobble when closing. The fulcrum ratio is high with plenty of leverage. Its the leverage that makes easy work and the steel that holds the edge. Given what its made of wouldn’t worry about using it on nails, fencing and wire strands. I cut a ten penny nail cleanly and the jaws were unmarked. The jaw opening is about 3/16 inches. Its 8 inch size is meant for smaller jobs, not for hardened shackles and locks. If you need a pair of cutters on the job and use regularly these are a good choice.

I work for a cable construction company and these mini bolt cutters do the job when cutting wires that are too hard for linemen pliers. Makes my job easier using these!

These hand held bolt cutters come in handy for small diameter rod and I use them for cutting threaded rod for small projects. They are forged and very strong, well tempered and will cut threw just about anything you can fit in the jaws. The jaws open to 3/8 of an inch so it wont handle anything big like a 1/2 inch padlock, you will need bigger ones for that.It has comfortable plastic handles but they are not insulated.Excellent for cutting heavy gauge wire with ease. These make a great addition to my tool box and well worth it.
