I had been in the market for a large end grain cutting block for some time. I had received several HD gift cards over the past few years and decided to check and see if they carried any online. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they did. I was originally looking at the 20 X 20 block but it was out of stock. The 18 x 18 turned out to be perfect for the space on my counter. The picture on the site does not do the block justice. The variations in color are very nice. There is a good balance of dark and light which makes it suitable for any kitchen. I treated the board for about a week with food grade mineral oil before I used it. This thing drank up about a full 10 oz bottle over that time. I have since switched to using John Taylor Butcher Block Conditioner which combines mineral oil with beeswax. I have used this block heavily for cutting all types of vegetables and even cut bread on it. As of today, there is not a mark on the block. I clean the surface after each use with a spray bottle of white vinegar and wipe it dry with a paper towel. I think it is important for anyone who purchases any end grain block to realize that you must take care of it for it to perform correctly and last a lifetime. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a sizable cutting block.
