This is a heavy, solid, large cutting board–just what I was looking for. It really soaked-up a lot of the mineral oil that I used to season it with, but after a few days of reapplying the oil, it seems to be fairly well prepared. However, it was pretty rough, so I used a green Scotch Brite pad to smooth it out a little, since I did not have access to my sand papers. I would not recommend this, as it took awhile to get rid of the green film that the pad left behind. Also, the Scotch Brite pad didn’t leave the board as smooth as I would like. I’ve only had the board for a few weeks, but so far, no signs of splitting or any other problems. If it does split, I’ll update the review.

It’s a great cutting board. The only issue is that it wasn’t very smooth for being brand new and I had to sand down both sides of it to get it smooth. Otherwise it seems to be a great board that if well taken care of should last for years.

The top of the board doesn’t have a smooth finish and is rough which causes paper towels and sponges to shred or stick and not clean food bits up easily when wiping the board. Several applications of mineral oil didn’t help much I will need to try to sand and refinish it. Wife not happy with it.
