It is a slab of wood, wood is a little soft, pretty grain and more handsome when seasoned with conditioner / mineral oil. A shade darker naturally after seasoned.HomeDepot got my purchase to me as always FAST! Thank you HD!Annoyed because 1) For $50.00 the slab of wood should have been sanded properly. There are SEVERAL areas that are barely sanded appropriately which means I have to spend MORE money to buy sand paper to finish the $50.00 job the manufacturer was supposed to do.2) To annoy me further, I was expecting to find this board “made in China” which I am quickly learning to avoid for cheap, poorly built and quality from, even from name brands I grew up trusting to be quality. This product has the gull to have a stamp on the plastic saying “Made In the U.S.A”. on the American Flag no less.Not returning the board, will do the manufactures job for them by sanding it, but I am likely to send the manufacture a bill for the sand paper and my time. Don’t expect payment, rather to make a POINT!

Nice color to it especially after oiling. The sections appear very well secured and I believe this will last a long time. I didn’t give it 5 stars because there were a few sections on the perimeter and a couple small areas on the cutting surfaces that slightly catch a paper towel or similar when wiping in one direction. I sanded it easily with some 500 grit and it made it better.
