This is a heavy-duty, bright, rugged flashlight in a relatively small package. I carry it in the toolkit of my RV, and it lights up a work area such that you can see every little screw, nut, bolt, etc. it%seems a powerhouse!

Only improvement would have been rechargeable.

This is the best flashlight I have ever had. Its super bright and can light up a room with all my lights off. So I even bought one for my wife’s car and she even likes it.

I’ve bought several Coast flashlights and have always been pleased. They’re well made, reasonably priced, and live up to the brightnesses and battery lives they claim.More esoteric flashlights are available online, but they’re pricey. And many of the cheaper lights you find in stores aren’t the values they seem, as they lack the electronic circuitry (like Coast’s) that optimizes battery life. The Polysteel 600 drew my attention because it was considerably brighter than any light I owned, boasted impressively long runtimes, and had a breakthrough price. Really, a full-sized, 710-lumen, adjustable-focus light for under $40 Cdn., and by a respected company like Coast? How could it even be cheaper than the 600-lumen Coast light next to it? I looked for the catch, but didn’t see any. When I got it home and tried it, it ALMOST lived up to my expectations. On the plus side:• It is VERY bright! You could probably put one of these at either end of a football field and play a passable night game. I can’t imagine most people would need anything brighter.• The power button cycles through high, medium and low brightness—but unlike most lights, you needn’t cycle through each time. Once you stay on a certain brightness for a few seconds, the next press turns the light off again. (Nice!)• The twist-focus lens works smoothly, letting you dial from a uniform flood to a brilliant narrow spot (surrounded by a dimmer general field). But it was quickly apparent how Coast made this light so inexpensive: the case. While most Coast lights are finely machined aluminum, the Polysteel 600’s outer case is all plastic. The package mentions that it has a “steel core” for durability—but other than making the light heavier, I don’t understand the value of it having a metal layer under the plastic. If you drop it, plastic hits the ground. There’s also no rubberized grip. That was a real surprise. When you hold the PS 600, all you feel is hard, rigid plastic. Some large studs are molded into it, presumably to make it feel more secure, but it’s a cold comfort. (There’s a loop for a wrist strap—but, also unlike Coast’s other lights, no strap is included. What can we use there? A piece of string? A chain of paper clips?)Coast’s sturdier lights may have spoiled me, but the PS 600’s case makes it feel somewhat chintzy. I don’t think I’ll ever actually drop it, but the lack of a grip doesn’t inspire my confidence. I also resent—just a tiny bit—that there was no way to know about this before I bought it. The packaging doesn’t mention it (“New Cheaper All-Plastic Case!”), and you can’t feel it through the plastic blister. That said, for its sheer brightness and other features, the Polysteel 600 is a bargain. If its rigid, non-grippy case doesn’t bother you—and maybe you have a Wrist Straps R Us in your neighborhood—it should be all the flashlight you’ll ever need.

Excellent light, extremely bright, survived first contact with concrete floor, always a good sign. Lightweight but sturdy and a good grip for the 2 a.m. chasing garbage cans in the rain / wind storm.

This light is much brighter than the so called 1,200 to 3,000 lumen flashlights advertised in the internet

Great light, fits hand well even when wearing gloves. Had one before and it finally died after about 5 years. I dropped it on cement from about 5 ft. I wanted another one.

I’m a bit of a flashlight addict and own quite a few ranging from the average to ridiculous in terms of lumen output and including brands like Nebo, Inova, Surefire, and (clearly) Coast. I’ve never had an issue with build quality from Coast (execpt the screeching of metal on metal while threading the battery cap on or off) nor have I been disappointed in the output of lumens. The new Polysteel 600 is no exception. Build quality is above the average high bar Coast has set, very lightweight, well designed, nice feel when adjusting beam and no screech from battery cap. That said I’m a little disappointed with its large size and expected a longer “throw” from the spot beam when dialed in. This is tempered by the excellent overall output of light, the ability to adjust from flood to spot, and awesome overall feel with its super lightweight and toughness. It doesn’t hurt that Coast backs this up with a Lifetime warranty.Definitely an excellent buy, no questions there. Whomever gets this at $29.99 is going to be happy from a neophyte to a flashlight collecter like myself.

I went into home Depot tonight with my lovely wife checking out the pre black Friday sales displays and came upon this all mighty beast of a beam and seen it had been sold out, but wait, the coveted display was hanging tethered to a steel cable and has already been through two weeks of hard abuse without falter! The manager was quickly dispatched at my frantic request, upon which he chewed through the steel cable assuring customer satisfaction! But wait, how much off? $20.00 off my good sir, thank you for shopping at your friendly home Depot, I heard him chuckle as he went out of sight, merry Christmas homey, enjoy your new light!

I have many flashlights but this is one of the best. Lightweight and very bright on high. Very long run time on low (30 plus hours) and still twice as bright as the original D-cell Mag Lights. I swear its as powerful as my old 400,000 candle power 12V spot light.
