There are penlights and then there is the HP3R Flashlight which is the brightest penlight on the market. With our Flex Charge Dual Power system, this light harnesses either lithium or alkaline power and using a micro USB, you can recharge the batteries in the light or quickly swap out to alkaline when needed. With high and low modes and the twist focus, this light is a supercharged penlight capable of anything. With Coasts commitment to quality, the HP3R Flashlight is impact resistant, weather resistant and its LED is virtually unbreakable. First off for a small Pocket light the hpr3 is best in its class bar none. I own 3 of them & as a guy who owns his own mechanic shop I really put them to the torture test & they do really well. After a years time things are gonna wear out I if you use things like I do I just don’t care what it is but how does a company take care of you with warranty. Well coast is definitely one of the best. They always send me parts to fix or a brand new light no questions asked. I’ll always be loyal to Coast for my flashlight lighting go to to company.

The light was great when purchased new , and it should be for the money it cost. Well that changed after 8 months , the light now comes on when being charged and it’s difficult to keep off when charging , you never know if being charged or when you need the light on the next use . For that reason I gave it a 3 ad that’s all it deserves. Someone probably makes one that more reliable , this is a great light but unreliable.

Great flashlight. Bright, compact, nice focusing. 4 stars as I had issues with the first one working properly. It failed after 6 months of use, but Coast promptly replaced it under warranty. Other than that, highly recommended.

I’m an ASE certified auto tech and have had one of these for 3 years and works like the day I bought it. I recently bought a second just because I wanted a cleaner one. I’ve dropped it probably 10 times from about 6 feet. No issues. It’s lightweight, feels solid, the brightness is incredible. It’s the best flashlight I’ve seen in anything comparable in size. The downside is charge time. Seems to take ages to charge. But I’m usually good for 2 shifts before it would be too dim to be useful. I use my light constantly for like periods too. And TO COAST: thanks for the best light I’ve had. But make a charging dock please. I hate laying it down to charge it.

I’m a auto technician and field service engineer so good light is a big deal for me. I have multiple flashlights but the HPR3 is in my pocket always and is my go to for cramped area inspections. Intense light and being rechargeable is important to me. I hate wasting batteries. I use it all day as needed and recharge it overnight. After a couple of years I did have to order a new battery due to shorter run times between charges but that was expected. With a new battery it works like new.
