The 1000′, Black Cat 6 500 MHz UTP Solid Cable from Comprehensive is a local area network cable that has 4 unshielded twisted pairs and is made of solid bare copper 24 AWG construction. It has a nominal outside diameter of 0.25″ (6.35mm).
The cable features a UL/NEC rating of CMR/MPR. It meets all the requirements as set forth in the Telecommunication Industry Association’s standard 568 and 570 recommendations. The cable is CM/CMG rated for single floor, general purpose use in walls and ceilings. It is also a verified compliant with EIA/TIA standards by ETL and is CSA listed.

Why three stars rather than four or five? This is solid wire, not stranded, and Cat 6 means a fairly tight twist in each pair. To fit into the pass-through plugs, the wires must be straightened well, and that is not easy to accomplish. Worse, the color of half of the conductors is far too faint. The solid colors – okay. The white + color suffers from the color stripes being much too difficult to make out in less than actinic lighting conditions. These stripes are bizarrely narrow and entirely too dim to see clearly if one has less than perfect eyesight.
