This is a solid, heavy duty 1/2 inch drive socket set. It is not lightweight at all. Included are 10 sockets ranging from 3/8″ to 15/16″ which is a nice size variety. I do prefer 6 point sockets to 12 point sockets but these are solid and sturdy and should handle 90% of any applications. Included is a 3″ extension. You can also use the holder that comes with the set to hang it on the wall and all 12 items will stay attached to the holder.

I just got this set of sockets and ratchet, and was anxious to try it out. I’m pleased to say that my first impression is positive. Here’s why: 1. This set of 10 SAE size wrenches covers the routine sizes I most commonly encounter for heavy duty mechanical work: 3/8,7/16, 1/2, 9/16, 5/8, 11/16, 3/4, 13/16, 7/8 and 15/16”. It would be nice to have a 1” too, still the inventory is fairly comprehensive.2. The fine ratchet movement (5 degrees) allows me to turn a fastener located in some of the most space-restrictive locations. 3. The tool body appears to be made of solid steel, with the sizes etched (not printed) on the body, making for easy identification.4. The reversing lever is easily gripped with the thumb and makes a positive “clicking” sound to indicate engagement. 5. The socket engagement/release button is large and positively engages/disengages sockets, so there is no accidental slip off during use. Ratchet was compatible with other branded sockets too.6. A small 3” extension is included for access to space- confined areas.7. The set is a good value for its intended use.8. Lifetime warranty – what’s not to like?A couple of limitations to consider:1. The plastic storage package is flimsy and accessing the sockets is a bit cumbersome. But it does manage to help organize the set.2. The ratchet handle is silky smooth, nice to look at, but slippery when wet. Would be better if the handle incorporated a knurled groove to facilitate handling under greasy or oily conditions.Overall, this is a good solid quality set for the homeowner, priced right for DIY and professionals too. I would recommend it to others.

This isn’t my Grandfather’s set of sockets and ratchet. In fact, one of my older ratchets does not seem to be compatible with the sockets in this set. The sockets don’t lock on to the drive due to internal differences in the new sockets. However, all of my old sockets work just fine with this ratchet so there is no cause for concern about that. The ten included sockets are SAE and range up to one inch. This is a good selection; and one may always supplement with larger sockets as well as metric sizes.The ratchet’s quick release button also helps when attaching older sockets as they may not lock on otherwise.Finish is great. The socket holder holds each socket firmly. Pricewise, I think this set is a bargain.

Lately, I’ve had the need to keep a set of sockets on my truck rather than take the set that i keep in my garage. Nothing worse than trying to remove a toilet or tighten a bolt with a set of pliers. I’ve never actually heard of this brand, but figuring it was just a tool, I went ahead and ordered them. These sockets are very well made and have a good weight to them. These are definitely high quality. The handle is a little longer than i expected, but that is a good thing as it gives more leverage. The downside is these aren’t great in smaller places. The packaging is minimal and you will definitely want to get a utility knife or some quality scissors to get these open. All in all, I’m very happy with this set and would certainly recommend it.

This is a high quality socket set by Crescent. I really like the finish and the engraved sizes on each socket. The set came with one ratchet that feels good and solid in the hand. The set, sockets and ratchet are attached to an organizer that I will likely just leave together in my tool box drawer. I feel like I will get alot off heavy duty use out of this set in my workshop.

It seems hard to imagine how something that’s been around as long ratchet sets could still be improved, but I think this Crescent set manages to do just that. The most notable improvement is the handle – rounded and tapered for a comfortable grip (as opposed to my old one that has a rectangular handle) so when you really need to crank down on something, you won’t have any edges to dig into your fingers. The sockets fit securely and of course, you can use any other 1/2 sockets you might already have. The large release button is easy to push so attaching / removing sockets is a quick glitch-free process. Socket size is etched in large enough numbers to be easily legible with normal eyesight in normal lighting, so no more squinting or holding them under a bright light to see what size it is. As a bonus, the packaging doubles as a tool holder you can mount on the wall so you don’t end up dropping sockets in a drawer and having to search for them later.

This CRESCENT 1/2 IN. DRIVE 12-POINT RATCHET AND SOCKET SET (12-PIECE) is a good tool to keep around the house as well for your car. I use this tool mostly on my car while doing mechanical updates to it. I like this packet because it has all the heads organized in order and the sockets to hold in place while not in use. It is a simple tool that is very handy.
